Of course that was with Rotherham. Whole different game at Prem level.

With his strike record 100% (3 shots 2 goals) he should be made a centre-forward. Kanu is next with 60odd% Whistle Whistle The rest nowhere worth mentioning. Doh

Didn't (want to) see any of the game, but have got to say that if we can't win on penalties, with them even missing their first (I think?).... well. Scoring 2 out of 5 is pathetic and says it all about the group.
Coming on here and reading the comments.... WELL - AGAIN.

Say what you like about Sam but I can't see him standing for what sounds like an almost deep rooted apathy and 'don't care' attitude from the players.
Big changes have simply GOT to be made.

This defeat clearly shows without spending we are at the level of Blackpool, and to not convert 3 - I say 3 penalties being missed by Prem players Whistle says it all.

Sam will have seen that our fringe players are not up to the task.

The problem will be (a) likely lack of finances to buy replacements and (b) what half decent player would come to our shipwreck of a club?

Knowing our idiotic club though, we'll lose all 5 and give him a 2 year contract extension. Doh

It wouldn't surprise me if he walks out, citing Covid as an excuse. He's already planted the seed for that.

You can tell from his demeanour that he's completely uninspired by the tools - or lack of them - at his disposal.

The blame is with him for us failing to progress today, because he should've selected a team capable of beating Blackpool. That said, blame also has to go with Bilic and Dowling for accumulating a squad of mercenaries that simply play for the pay cheque and have very little in the way of self pride. Even with our best XI on the pitch, I can't see us getting results in the Premier League without major reinforcements. Our underbelly is far too soft. It seems like it's a slippery slope downwards whoever in charge unless we're able to obtain some players that play with pride on the pitch.

Maybe today was just a bad day at the office for him. Although it would've perhaps been nice to see him alongside a ball player. Neither Jake and Gallagher, for their endeavour, are the purist footballers.

Although the one game he played there for us last season - Middlesbrough at home if I recall - he was equally poor.

I feel he has the attributes to play there, so maybe he needs time to readapt to the role. But time isn't something we really have in our current plight.

Slick, I’m loathe to apportion blame since it’s been a catalogue of disaster from even before we kicked a ball. However, if I was going to point fingers, I wouldn’t single out Bilic or Allardyce but the ‘management’ at owner and Board level which has been simply desperate. From the moment Dowling, clearly on the orders of Lai and communicated through his CEO, indicated to Bilic the transfer money available, we were screwed. I think Bilic could have spent better but, in all honesty, the screw ups are probably peripheral in terms of cost- most of us wanted Pereira and Diangana, and there were few complaints when we signed Grant. I think Krovinovic was indulgent and Ivanovic blind optimism. But you get what you pay for; Allardyce will find the same. We have an owner with little or no interest in the club and, as long as he is in place, it probably won’t matter who the manager is.

Diabolical (again) today.
Too many players thinking it was just going to happen. Lethargic and totally lacking drive.
There have been a few calls for Grosicki to be given a start but he was disappointing. I’ve never been that taken with him but in his defence, it was his first start for a while but an international player against Blackpool?
Personally think there are too many ‘good time’ players, the ones that show and look good when things are going well (in the Championship)
Now the chips are down and you need them battling in the trenches, they don’t want to know.
As for Allardyce, he can ‘do one’. Never liked him and even less so now.

Spot on BaggieSteve, "you reap what you sow" is the saying that comes to mind.

While we're run by a couldn't care less chairman & board who are only where they are for the money, is it any wonder that they employ a manager with the same morals & integrity.

Yes, I liked Bilic but he signed his own dismissal papers with some bizarre selections, substitutions and tactics and as you say it's easy now to slate the signings, but we were all more than happy to get Diangana, Pereira and Krovinovic to a lesser extent back for another season. Grant was what we could get for the money we had even though my early thoughts are that we paid £14 million too much for him.

In Allardyce, we now have a mercenary journeyman who will fill the team with the same kind of player as himself to try and preserve his never been relegated status. Trouble is these 30+ year old players won't come for anything less than an 18 month contract, meaning they'll still be on the books for another season when we undoubtedly get relegated this season. If Allardyce keeps us up - fair play- he'll have done what he was paid to do, but it won't make me like him anymore than I do now and I'd still want him away from the club as far as possible.

As mentioned earlier, I agree I think he'll walk citing impossible circumstances to do his job, even from his opening interview "I'm ready to come back, I've still got the desire and passion". Bollocks, he's on a massive contract to keep us up and the only reason he'd been out of the game was that nobody else had asked.

Today, he's complaining about the quality of our penalties - it should never have got to penalties. League 1 v Premier League, you're having a laugh Angry Angry

For all those calling for Allardyce to go yet wanted Bilic to stay me included were bloody fools.
We are showing now that to bring in last year’s championship players was totally and completely wrong they are not good enough. As for blaming Allardyce we must wait until he has had time to bring in his own players and there will be plenty mark my words, he has found out he has inherited a bunch of gutless idiots. I don’t want Allardyce but until he has had a chance to bring in his own players that show some fight I will stay with him. I think you will find a lot different team come February to what we have now.

RE: Blackpool vs WBA - FA Cup Third Round Match Thread - Slick_Footwork - 09-01-2021

Funny to hear Allardyce being called a mercenary. Like or lump his style or ability, you can tell by his face he hates losing. I'm too young to know what he was like as a player, but as a manager his teams have always left everything on the pitch. He's clearly fuming by some of the performances we are serving up at the moment. He's one of the few at the club that appears to care about football (or at least his own pride), as well as money.

Some of these players on the other hand...

Laughing and joking after 3,4,5 goal thrashings...

They couldn't care less. They'll be handing in their transfer requests come the summer if anyone is daft enough to want them. They would move for 1p extra cash. Useless tossers couldn't even perform well enough to salvage some self pride against League 1 opponents.

As each game passes, I'm getting more and more inclined to back a complete reset of the club in the summer. Selling all the flashy players and rebuilding with lads who wear their heart of the sleeve. At this point, ability goes out of the window and I simply want to watch a team that are relatable, a team that care. I'd take a Sean Flynn over a Filip Krovinovic and a Danny Dichio over a Ken Zohore any day of the week.
