Seemed to me that he got little support in the summer after getting you up, sold a player behind his back etc. The squad looks nowhere near good enough to compete in that league but they certainly put a shift in for the manager last night.

I like big Slaven, like the way he talks about the game. Nice mix of passion and wry humour about him.

I also think it was a harsh decision - unless he wanted to go - after all he and the players have had only 10/11 games to adapt to conditions/pace/playing against the best players from having Championship games.
You can see the players need experience when you saw us winning at Chelsea 3-0 to let it slip, late goal against Spurs, and now 1-1 against one of the best teams in the World.
He only needed better players and the backing money wise from a useless owner.
As for a another new manager, I can't see him doing any better unless Jan sales help him.

Thanks Bilic for getting us to the Prem in ONE season in charge Thumb up

Is that 5/7 we've had in 12 years Huh

Superb appointment.

Bit of a shock as it's only the 2nd time in my life we have appointed the manager I wanted, the 1st time was uncle Roy Hodgson.

I must have a thing for "dinosaurs" Laugh

In all seriousness though, I've been championing Bilic's dismissal and Big Sam's appointment for a while now. Potentially I might make a prat out of myself if he's a failure, but I can only see us improving. A great organiser, superb man manager and the one candidate who has been there and done it. Timing is a bit weird, as the result last night will give people the idea that Bilic might've turn it around. Would've made more sense to dismiss after the Palace or Newcastle game. Although my personal belief is that the players only turned up because they knew he was on the way out.

I am hopeful we will see that kind of desire on a more frequent basis under Big Sam.

For the first time this season, I actually think we have a chance of staying up.

If the end of season get out clause works both ways, at least I’ll have one thing to celebrate when we go down.

I wouldn't be so sure relegation is inevitable now. It was inevitable without change.

I suppose we'll have to get used to his open gum shewing mouth.

Hope he does something more for the players - I reserve my case on that.

What contract has he Huh

In your opinion. In mine, it was likely, just as it is now. However Bilic is a decent, humble, honest and likeable person. Allardyce is not, and I prefer my club not to associate itself with corruption.

Fair point, I like Bilic as a person and his passion. Although he was openly critical about his players, which didn't help him motivate them.

As for the corruption, I think they are all at it. Where there is big money, there is corruption. But Sam should've been a bit more savvy. Luckily for us, he's got a proven track record of being a savvy manager. I'm strange in that I don't get particularly endeared to players or managers on a personal level. In fact, I actively dislike most of them. This is certainly the baggies team that I've been least endeared to in my lifetime, due to being a soft, couldn't care less bunch of players. I'm motivated purely by the possibility of us staying up, which is perhaps why I'm more for Sam than many other fans are.

RE: Bilic's dismissal ? - WBA-Josh - 16-12-2020

I'm not happy about the appointment but I'll give him my support. The 18 month contract is a positive because he won't be here past his sell-by-date like Pulis was.

Hopefully his time will be like Hodgson's reign (minus the crap home form and 442 obsession) where the defence will be organised and solid and when we have the ball we'll be positive with it rather just hoof it.
