At least some good news here......

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has been told the club cannot even afford free transfers while they are in financial crisis. (Mirror)

I think we probably can, but it doesn't lift my Baggies-based gloom a lot.

Dan Ashworth is reported to be looking for a return to club football when he returns from Russia.

I doubt we would stand much chance of getting him though, I suspect we would be behind half the clubs in the prem trying to get their hands on him. Who knows though, if the salary, level of responsibility and everything else is right, he certainly would know what to expect from Jenkins, if he gets to spend a bit of cash as well.

Can't help thinking how appropriate this song from Les Mis is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXnRf3TQcpk

I think he’ll be a good signing and replacement for Foster who will probably join Watford soon. He had 20 clean sheets last season in the Chanpionship which I think is a very good return for a play-off team.

We’ll still need to sign an experienced number 2/competition as well. Maybe Milan Borjan, the Canadian goalkeeper of Serbian descent, from Crvena Zvezda. We were linked with him a few weeks ago.
