RE: The gambling/betting thread - Owlkev71 - 02-09-2015 The short odds players I have put more money on than the long odds players. Day is the hottest player at the moment of course, but Matsuyama & Finau seem to be fairly consistent without winning this season. As you said a fairly weak field for the Russian, so just went with a few familiar faces and a couple of outsiders, you never know. RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 02-09-2015 Have added Janewattananond at 80/1 (Coral). He is young & in this field at this price is a decent bet. RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 03-09-2015 Mixed day at the Russian Open Robert Dinwiddie 20/1 (General) +2 Tied 82nd Craig Lee 40/1 (Coral) -4 Tied 5th Simon Wakefield 150/1 (SKY Bet) -2 Tied 30th The lead is -6 on an opening day with benign weather conditions. Lee is well positioned to challenge and Wakefield is doing better than his odds would suggest. Dinwiddie is playing well below his form of last week & will struggle to make the cut. RE: The gambling/betting thread - Owlkev71 - 03-09-2015 Dredge T3 Hoey T58 Phelan T58 Janewattananond T83 RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 04-09-2015 So regretting leaving out Bradley Dredge because the price wasn't good enough. Still I still have two players in with a decent shot. Robert Dinwiddie 20/1 (General) Level Tied 57th Craig Lee 40/1 (Coral) -6 Tied 7th Simon Wakefield 150/1 (SKY Bet) -5 Tied 10th RE: The gambling/betting thread - Owlkev71 - 04-09-2015 Happy halfway thru, still a long way to go: Dredge 1st Hoey T11th Janewattananond T57th Phelan missed the cut RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 05-09-2015 Still very open at the Deutsche Bank after the first round. More than happy with my players positions. Jason Day 13/2 (Paddy Power) -3 Tied 11th (had the worst of the weather but still in contention) Henrik Stenson 16/1 (Coral) -4 Tied 2nd Robert Streb 60/1 (Paddy Power) -2 Tied 16th Russell Henley 75/1 (Bet365) +3 Tied 71st Ryan Palmer 90/1 (Paddy Power) -3 Tied 11th Steven Bowditch 150/1 (Bet Victor) +5 Tied 84th Bryce Molder 250/1 (SKY Bet) +4 Tied 80th (three birdies but two sevens & a six killed his chances) Stenson, Day, Palmer & Streb are very much in contention although it is very close so still pretty open. The poor showing of several big names is a plus though with McIlroy & Dustin on -1, Rose on Level, Bubba & Oosterhuizen on +2 and Speith on +4. In the US Tennis, Bencic went out to Williams last night but Wawrinka & Isner are still going well & both are in action today against Bemelmens & Vesely respectively. Football Not a great set of fixtures today so just two small bets. Southend v Peterboro This should be a low scoring match. 23 of Southend's last 25 home matches have failed to reach 2.5 goals. It is a risk following this trend after a team changes divisions but Southend have proved to be very consistent so far. Peterboro match up reasonably well with 7 of their last 8 eight dropping short of that line. Bet on Under 2.5 Goals at 1.96 (Betfair) Oldham v Bradford This is another match that should be low scoring. Five of the Latics' last six home matches have failed to reach 2.5 Goals while 8 of City's last ten away matches have fallen short of this line. Bet on Under 2.5 Goals at 1.81 (Betfair). Good Luck! I have added Petra Kivitova at 11/1 each way (SKY Bet/ Ladbrokes). She appears to be back to her best although it is either famine or feast with this girl. She has the perfect draw, avoiding the strongest players until the plays Halep in the semi final & Williams in the final if results go according to plan. RE: The gambling/betting thread - Southeyowl - 05-09-2015 Peterborough scored in the last minute! Bastards!? Oldham just scored! Twats! RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 06-09-2015 Football didn't go so well but the tennis & golf are going pretty well. Russian Open Robert Dinwiddie 20/1 (General) -3 Tied 34th Craig Lee 40/1 (Coral) -11 Tied 2nd Simon Wakefield 150/1 (SKY Bet) -1 Tied 45th Deutsch Bank Jason Day 13/2 (Paddy Power) -6 Tied 10th Henrik Stenson 16/1 (Coral) -7 Tied 7th Robert Streb 60/1 (Paddy Power) -1 Tied 34th Russell Henley 75/1 (Bet365) +4 Missed Cut Ryan Palmer 90/1 (Paddy Power) +3 Tied 69th Steven Bowditch 150/1 (Bet Victor) +7 Missed Cut Bryce Molder 250/1 (SKY Bet) +6 Missed Cut Two players in close contention at halfway in US with Craig Lee in second with one round to go in Europe. RE: The gambling/betting thread - madsteve - 06-09-2015 US Open Tennis Kvitova won 6-2 6-1 - plays Brit Johanna Konta next Isner won 6-3 6-4 (opponent retired) - plays Roger Federer next Wawrinka won 6-3 7-6 6-4 - plays Donald Young next Both our men are in the bottom half of the draw, away from Djokovic until the final. Wawrinka should be able to beat Donald Young, who has had two consecutive five set matches but then should face Andy Murray in the Quarter Final. Isner has got to his allotted seeding position & will have a tough task against Federer, who has been very impressive so far. Kvitova should reach the semi final where she is likely to play the winner of Azarenka v Halep to win our place bet. Then hopefully a shot at the title. I thought Serena might face a run of tough matches but several of those potential opponents have disappeared. Maddison Keys could give her a tough game next but she then most likely faces Venus before a semi against Bouchard or Makarova. Looking forward to Isner v Federer tomorrow. Our man hasn't lost a set yet and is a tie break specialist but Federer looks back to his best. |
