RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - hibeejim21 - 08-05-2020 https://appeasement.org/ Anyone who is remotely still thinking Boris hasn't totally fucked up the Covid -19 response, and that it isn't his fault should read the above. RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - 0762 - 08-05-2020 Nice one!! ![]() RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - ritchiebaby - 08-05-2020 Far too little, far too late, is the only verdict possible on the Tory Government response to the crisis. The only thing I would add is that the EU response is just as bad. The much-vaunted EU Procurement Initiative has only delivered the necessary equipment in the last couple of weeks, although the idea was mooted in February. Any success EU nations like Germany have had is entirely due to their own efforts. All the noise generated by the Tories regarding their "new" testing, tracking, isolating strategy is silenced by the fact that it would have been much easier to do it for a few thousand people two months ago than hundreds of thousands of people now - or by the end of the month if it's even in operation by then. I've just heard that Boris has now announced a 14 day quarantine period for people entering the UK (I can't find confirmation of this anywhere) - if true, once again he's at least two months too late. There must be senior Ministers/Officials who must be discarded after we eventually get through this crisis, for failing to protect the British public. That includes all the 4 Nations Governments. Bold underline - confirmation at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52594023 RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - hibeejim21 - 09-05-2020 (08-05-2020, 22:56)ritchiebaby Wrote: Far too little, far too late, is the only verdict possible on the Tory Government response to the crisis. The EU made a mess of it Ritchie, then they realised their best way to help the member states was to stay 'hands off'. RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - theo_luddite - 09-05-2020 Well, he 'got Brexit done' didn't he ? ![]() He clearly thought that with the divorce papers in the post what was happening in Italy just wouldn't happen here because we aren't in bed with the riff-raff over the channel anymore. How do we go about get him arrested on 30,000 and counting charges of murder? Of course, his alibi will be he wasn't around as he had his fat lazy arse somewhere on holiday or in hospital ever since he 'got Brexit done' so it couldn't have been him that was responsible gov. RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - 0762 - 09-05-2020 They'll find a "fall guy" from within their ranks Theo and I suspect that horrible turd of a SPAD, Cummings, will be "in on the act" of choosing who takes the blame away from Johnson. Hancock anybody?? He's certainly my favourite to take the "hit" from these morons. RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - hibeejim21 - 10-05-2020 Both Wales and Scotland appear to have been left out the loop over the lockdown easing by Boris. That just doesn't make any sense at all. We need to move forward on this together. We hear that the first Nicola Sturgeon knew of the slogan change was in the Sunday papers and that the Welsh First Minister has no idea what Boris will announce.... utterly, utterly appalling by Westminster again. The way they treat the devolved nations is unbelievable. ‘Stay Alert’ is a vacuous phrase aimed squarely at WWII obsessed daily mail curtain-twitchers. Coupled with the ongoing farce over testing this idiot government are taking the British people for fools. Still at least garden centres are going to open. RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - 0762 - 10-05-2020 The crass disregard of the devolved governments is actually no surprise TBH! The Tories have been "at it" for a very long time and that goes as far back as May's govt with no consultation or proper inter-governmental dialogue on Brexit and the "way forward". Johnson's govt moved on to an extreme version of that kinda attitude because they now have a majority govt and used it to certainly treat the Scottish govt, a govt that had a mandate and a Scot population opposed to Brexit, with a similar disregard/contempt and lack of proper dialogue re imposing a "no deal" Brexit on the country. Remember we were supposed to be an equal partner - preached by these morons and their unionist backers as far back as Scot referendum year 2014. Most observant Scots have "smelt the coffee" long before now and for good reason. Lots of us are "itching" to tell them to f### off and we'll do it in a polling booth. However, "patience is a virtue" - we shall wait until national stability finally comes at the appropriate time. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/greeks-marvel-britains-covid-chaos-070518731.html This is a very good article re Greece's death toll of 156 to COVID-19 and the country now coming out of lockdown. Their perception of the Brit govt's disastrous lack of impetus is similar to what has been said on this Sb board. The first couple of paras are a damning indictment of Johnson and his govt and someone already "reading between the lines"/sussing them out as the poor politicians that they are. RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - 0762 - 10-05-2020 This is my "take"/summary of events in Scotland since the crisis began:- Nicola Sturgeon (we are told but not by the media) was not invited to the first 6 COBRA meetings. Scottish ministers were not invited to attend SAGE meetings but could listen in but not ask questions unless they submitted them in writing in advance. So Nicola Sturgeon set up her own group of scientific advisers early on in the pandemic. Not early enough perhaps but she may have expected the UK Government to take a UK approach in a crisis and not act as the Government of England. NHS England has taken a different approach to reporting deaths. They have only reported deaths in hospitals after a positive covid-19 test. Scotland has reported all deaths, including deaths in the community and care homes, with covid-19 on the death certificate even though not tested. This started early on in the pandemic. It is still virtually impossible to find out how many people in England have died. The appalling totals are concealed!! ![]() NHS Scotland has taken a different approach to sourcing PPE. The UK Government has ordered suppliers in England and abroad not to help Scotland acquire PPE. So Scotland has made its own arrangements for supply from China and elsewhere and also Scottish manufacturers are now supplying it. Scotland has taken a different approach to test, trace and isolate. England calls it test, trace and track. England has a centralised approach, which Allyson Pollock has described as useless, whereas Scotland is using the traditional community based approach to infection control. The UK Government has set up mobile testing centres, including 3? in Scotland, operated by private companies and/or the army. Staff from England are being told to drive for 7 hours to use Scottish Centres because they can’t get tests in England!!? The whole set up of NHS England is completely different, fragmented and hopelessly hampered by the privatisation of much of the critical work required, such as hospital cleaning. These are just a few of my observations and I'm not a journalist. Additionally IMO the Tory/unionist media deliberately lie about the Scottish approach. The media obscure the facts from people and supply an endless stream of propaganda using the usual suspects, e.g. Prof Pennington rtd. People are not daft. They know it’s better handled up here albeit I do acknowledge it is not perfect by any manner or means but recent OPs have endorsed that view. They know the media are lying. Enough of us go online and ferret out the facts for ourselves - the comments on this SB board alone provide a good picture of that scrutiny. Now we have Boris Johnston about to announce VE day, go out and sunbathe. We have a different approach about that as well. Any guesses about how the media will present this eh? RE: Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!! - ritchiebaby - 10-05-2020 Boris is making the big mistake that John Major did back in the day - he's in a hole and keeps on digging, trying to please as many factions within his own party and business as he can, failing miserably in the process. Apparently English cretins will be able to go and sunbathe in parks, surely a recipe for disaster. And drive long distances to do it. The media are hardly innocent in this either. They've been pushing for weeks to get restrictions lifted and, for some unfathomable reason, Boris has let them push the agenda. For some time I've thought some of the public's questions were ridiculous until i heard some supposedly intelligent journalists have their turn. Finally, a word of praise for Nicola. She's not one of my favourites, but she is an excellent speaker and won't be pushed around. In today's press conference, she handled everything very well and re-iterated the Scottish position forcibly, and didn't allow herself to be drawn into party politics or personalities. |
