RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - July 8th - Blue Baggie - 08-07-2019 (08-07-2019, 22:06)Beefy 1965 Wrote: Easy solution... The academy has a big pool of support staff and they will have to be culled along with everyone else. I did a count up of employed staff at our club and got to 157 with 3 vacancies. Amazing including the 4 recruitment staff in the academy and the other 8 in the club we can't get players - it's a joke either Jenkins / Lai will not let us spend any money. Either way all 12 of them may as well not be at the club. The window has been open from 16th of May and we have lost 16 players and signed a kid from Cirencester and a Bilic guy on loan. I think we have a right to know what our recruitment staff are doing We have almost £70 million banked atm and I am watching where we spend every penny of it. This doesn't include sponsership - ticket sales - EFL money - Media fees - TV funds (Money used to run the club). And don't anyone tell me we don't have it, unless they can show me where it's gone. I will not accept the tea ladies have had a pay rise. If it disappears the bean counters have had it away, just like last year. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - July 8th - wba13 - 09-07-2019 Someone said close the academy to save 2.5 mill a year well keep it open I say ,remember we sold Roberts for 5mill and now it looks like Morgan Rogers will be sold for 8 mill .that is 13 mill on 2 players . Ido not like the idea of players being nurtured by us and sold on but can you really blame both WBA And Rogers that is an extreme amount that is being reported in the sun and Rogers will be on at least 20 grand a wk probably more. It is well worth keeping the Academy open it we bring on players to make us that sort of profit . Would rather we kept them but some of these deals suit both parties. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - July 8th - Beefy 1965 - 09-07-2019 I would still close the academy Just can't see the point of having kids from the age of 9 years to go for 250k ..... We have invested in them so money being spent on every individual as well as the running of it , yes we sold Roofe, Woods etc but they were then part of the first team, However if this is true in our situation it's makes sense to put towards new players now , how much have we banked now, 4 weeks until the window shuts, best get moving .... Another 8 million ???? #ManCity agree £8m deal for #WestBrom kid Morgan Rogers in the biggest transfer for a 16-year-old since Theo Walcott joined #Arsenal https://t.co/lCNq8IwdqZ RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - July 8th - SomersetBaggie - 09-07-2019 (09-07-2019, 13:11)Beefy 1965 Wrote: I would still close the academy Quite happy with the £8M for Rogers especially if there is a sell on clause. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - July 8th - WBA-Josh - 09-07-2019 Yes it’s bad that the kid is going and it makes a mockery of our Academy with all the time and effort spent on nurturing his talent but £8 million is a bloody good price for a 16 year old. Good luck to him. I hope he makes it at City in the long-term. Also we need to keep our Academy going. If we close it then all the players from the under 18’s down and the hard-working staff will be out on their arses and that won’t be a good look for the club. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - July 8th - Beefy 1965 - 09-07-2019 WTF is going on ????? WBA U18s boss Mike Scott is leaving after 11 years to join Derby County as the Head of Academy Coaching. #wba #westbrom #dcfc https://t.co/PsMoKLlEl1 Mattwilson@expressandstar .... Jay Rodriguez's £10m move to Burnley has been announced .. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - July 8th - Mightybrom - 09-07-2019 (09-07-2019, 15:25)Beefy 1965 Wrote: WTF is going on ????? Regarding Rodriguez, I could be wrong here but this seems to be the difference between our club & others. Obviously Burnley wanted him so they go out and get the deal done in 24 hours. Whereas our board say they have targets but take an age and seem to miss out. As I say I don't know what is going on behind the scenes, but it does get frustrating when deals can be done sharpish.
