RE: EUROS - St Charles Owl - 11-07-2021 Good first half from England. Italy have come back into it but the tactics have worked for England so far. Shaw has been superb and Kane dropping deep has worked nearly everytime. RE: EUROS - themaclad - 11-07-2021 Well bugger me it’s pens stopped playing at half time RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 11-07-2021 No problem. RE: EUROS - themaclad - 11-07-2021 Some awful penalties but better side won RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 11-07-2021 Letting kids who've only just come on take em. RE: EUROS - themaclad - 12-07-2021 That was a nonsense especially the two in the 120th minute RE: EUROS - theo_luddite - 12-07-2021 Italy were the best team from day 1. You can't sit in your own half for over an hour and keep that team out. It's been a blast though and the lads have done us proud. RE: EUROS - St Charles Owl - 12-07-2021 Seriously why can’t Grealish take a penalty, what about Sterling or Stones or Walker?? Rashford tried to be too clever. I think England will class this as a successful tournament and they should, they are good enough to beat any team int he world and with the youth coming through will continue to improve. I think when we analyze it we will deem it that we were too negative on the whole but were the most solid team in the tournament. We need a midfield general or two to emerge to make us into a real force. RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 12-07-2021 Have to say, Italy were the better team. Not just on the night, but throughout the tournament as well. Chiellini and Jorginho should've been red carded though. Both for violent conduct. Jorginho would've definitely been sent off in the Prima Donna League. The one on Saka when he pulled him back by the shirt collar. poor lad was nearly throttled. Very dangerous play. Only thing I have to say about the manager, apart from him being brilliant, is that I don't think it was wise bringing the two kids on specifically just to take pens. They've come on cold and have a giant of a keeper in front of them. I'll not blame the experienced ones who bottled out, but come on lads, it's your job. On to the future though. There are some great young lads coming through and we should be up for a good crack at the World Cup. I've always said that the Euros are like the warm up for that. It's a great experience to get to the final and now they have to take it on to the next level. RE: EUROS - jjamez - 12-07-2021 Bottled it that second half. Didn't look like we came back out, could have been watching a town game from last season... Putting pressure on saka at his age was uncalled for, I'm not a fan of bringing players on for penalties in the last minutes of extra time, it rarely works. Stirling was dead on his feet in extra time, yes he's one of your biggest threats but at that point Sancho or rashford would probably be a bigger threat. Southgate definitely underuses grealish and over uses mount |
