Definite red for Barrios. He’s a lucky boy.
The match so far has been very poor. Both teams are average with England too reliant on set pieces and Colombia too reliant on Quintero.
I never watch England’s matches apart from at tournaments and I have to say that I really can’t stand Glen Hoddle’s commentary. Danny Murphy was terrible against Panama and Hoddle is even worse tonight. There’s bias towards country and then there’s Hoddle and Murphy. Fecking eejits.

Agree re Hoddle but I actually like Murphy.
Stirling comments are bang on. I just don’t get how someone who is fast automatically is considered a footballer, let alone an international!!!
VAR has been excellent and will only improve. It is also a slippery slope to making other rulings, which I can’t wait to see. But how they decided that was a yellow is beyond me. It’s like rewarding a half go!!

Awful match and two awful teams on show but England finally break their penalty voodoo. They do need to seriously improve against Sweden.
As for Colombia, the fans have been superb and they were very good in their first two matches but against Senegal and tonight, the style of play seemed to change. Gone was the high pressing possession game and it was replaced by a more defensive style. Overall I’m disappointed in how they’ve done. I think the coach Pekerman needs to retire in peace now, his reactions during the penalty shootout showed a man that could do with a break from the game.
Sweden are a big physical team so it’s going to be interesting to see how England’s players cope. They didn’t fair very well against Iceland two years ago who are similar to Sweden but maybe the players have learnt.
So the quarter finals are:
Uruguay vs France
Brazil vs Belgium
Russia vs Croatia
Sweden vs England

What a dirty niggling side Colombia were tonight.
How did the referee not book any of their players when they deliberately crowded round him when he awarded us a penalty?
They were very lucky to finish the game with 11 men but, although we didn't play all that well, in the end justice was done.
