Careful, Beefy, or I'll tell about when you stood with the Skins back in the day.
You'd already got a genuine skinhead and you'd already got an old pair of bracers and Army boots, but you gave it away when you started smoking your pipe. Laugh

Ahhh Mammories. Davenports beer at home. Counting the sacks of coal through the cellar hatch. Pop in gallon stone bottles. Fetching 5 woods for the old man. Shopkeeker ripping a loaf in half. Staying out late. Getting thrashed with a garden cane. Malted milk biscuits from a box. Cod liver oil capsules. NHS orange juice. Drawing the fire. Slacking the fire. Six foot of snow. Pea soup fog. Opps..... Off topic. DD Angry Angry

DD, were you a neighbour of Charles dickens, with those memories you must be three hundred.

RE: Pointless - this week N & O - silverbaggie - 20-08-2017

Nothing wrong with those good old days.
I too remember counting the sacks of coal being delivered and in our first house we had gas lighting.
A pint of beer was one shilling as were 10 cigarettes. You could buy your ciggies from the local shop one at a time.
The ice cream van would be waiting outside the school and you could buy a 1p cone.

And my first Albion programme was 3d. (About 1.5 pence for you youngsters).
Petrol was, for a long time, only 5 shillings a gallon.
A journey to school by bus from the outskirts of Brum all the way to Navigation Street was just 3d.

Footballers had a wage limit of £20 per week until Jimmy Hill stuck his oar in. Big Grin
