RE: Summer Transfer Thread - Devongone - 19-08-2015

Well Tommy is worth about zero now outside Chesterfield.

Chapman is yet to let a goal in at Bristol, but has played two games without making a save, or getting injured.

The more Morsy keeps scoring goals and making tackles, the more complete a midfielder he's appearing and the greater his value becomes.

If he considers his career, a move to play under Marmalade Adkins might not be wise. He could end up stranded in Division One with his best years passing him by. If I were his agent I'd be telling him to wait for a Championship offer ...... Three games into the season who is to say the Blades will finish above even us? Okay they beat us, but in terms of the play we apparently dominated 57%-43% and the corner count was phenomenal.

I think we would be silly to sell our best player to our rivals in the same division as us. A lot of Championship clubs who are after Morsy will probably leave it till the end of next season if he doesn't sign a new contract because that means they can get him on a free. The MK Dons offer was a tongue in cheek offer.

In a way we have the upper hand with the Sami situation as long as we can keep him happy .If we can possibly keep him beyond this transfer window and he continues as he is I am thinking there should be a bidding war in January for him and who knows what could happen then.
Id rather have him here for another year and let him see his contract out than take 500k for him now .

In terms of relative value, if Clucas were over a million then £500,000 for Morsy looks too cheap.

Also we've cashed in to the tune of a couple of million in the transfer market, so we should be less desperate to sell than usual.

RE: Summer Transfer Thread - Dancingwilldoit - 20-08-2015

Based on the Clucas fee I would value Morsy at £2mill. He does seem to be controlling himself a bit better of late and has cut out the little niggly getting his own back after a bad tackle. IMO he could step up the premiership no problem forget the championship. He just oozes class and isn't just a turn it on for bit type of player. He plays a full 90 mins and controls the game more often than not.
I didn't go but it was interesting to note that he had a bad game away at Carlisle and we were overrun in midfield. I have never seen him have a bad game so I will forgive him 1 in a hundred or so. I really hope he stays because I just love watching him play. Being realistic if he isn't gone this month he will probably be away come January and it definitely wont be to Sheff U or bloody Rotherham.

O'Shea and Banks have signed extensions till 2017 but Morsy not signed a new contract yet.

RE: Summer Transfer Thread - bluepooch - 21-08-2015

I reckon Samy has the world at his feet and he's in no hurry to sign a new contract.I'm pretty sure the club will do all they can to keep hold of him and if he did happen to sign it would be one of the best signings we have ever made .
But no doubt if he moves on the club will get the blame from some thick fans.
The deals CFC have done in the past few months have been pretty good and I trust the club to do the right thing.

RE: Summer Transfer Thread - Devongone - 23-08-2015

How far I trust the club I don't know, but I do agree the club has had to make the best of its position with players that have left ..... and has done pretty well. Tendayi wanted to go to further his career and I doubt we were ever going to be offered more for Sam Clucas. I'd have liked us to try as hard as we could to keep Roberts - don't know how hard we did try, but he is a player who does tend to move on ........ so we've done okay. In Morsy's case how do you assess the best financial package we can afford against his desire to better himself? If Dancing's assessment were right and he's capable of playing in the Premier of course he'd want to go if a Bournemouth or Leicester came for him. If he didn't then, he isn't the player fans have been imagining.

RE: Summer Transfer Thread - Dancingwilldoit - 23-08-2015

Morsy had a poor game yesterday and Rochdale stitched us up good and proper by closing us down double quick and doing it consistently well. McDermot was the best player on the park by miles and I wouldn't mind seeing him turn out for us again in the future. Rochdale will do well to hold on to him.
The conditions weren't ideal for football. It was bad enough sat in the stands. I was a bit surprised by Rochdale. I know Keith Hill gets them playing the game but yesterday they were dirty and I was surprised that there were not more cards in the game. Every time Novak had the ball he got clattered. Angel looked useful and has an eye for a good pass. Given a bit more time together the side will gel better but we really do have to stop peeing about with the ball at the back. After 5 mins Lee should have been told to get the ball upfield and stop pratting around with risky short passes to Hird and Evatt. It was just asking for trouble and we were very lucky to get away with it.

Rumour of another player coming in.
