It wasn’t the best game in the tournament so far but I enjoyed it watching the two contrasting, effective styles going head to head and the quality players on show who we may not see at another World Cup after this.

Then there was the drama towards the end (Zanka should have been sent-off) and then the penalty shoot-out.

Is Neymar Ronaldo in disguise?
Tart Angry

.... and I posted that before the theatrics on the touchline.

So that’s the end of Mexico’s entertaining run. It’s been good to follow and I really like their style.

Brazil on the other hand were nothing special today but were still more than good enough to win in 2nd gear really. They need to hit 5th gear in the quarter final.

If Belgium win tonight then it will setup a tasty Brazil vs Belgium quarter final. I think Belgium will do them based on Brazil’s performances so far.

Gotta agree Josh - Mexico had a good mix of pace,  control and athleticism, and were good to watch.

I thought Chelsea's William - who I've never rated - looked good and was Brazil's driving force today

so £200 million buys you a player that thinks he owns the world
he has spent most of the games arguing the toss with the ref`s
or rolling around the floor

Talented? over rated if you ask me

RE: World Cup 2018 - WBA-Josh - 02-07-2018

Belgium’s system is so flawed. Japan play with Haragouchi and Inui quite wide so why has Martinez decided to play with three centre backs and two very offensive wingbacks?

He’d have been better off playing 4231 with Meunier and Vertonghen as full backs and then Carrasco further forward as a proper left winger. That way you have Meunier and Carrasco’s offensive play and you don’t commit defensive suicide. 1 vs 1 on both wings and then a spare man in the centre with 2 centre backs against 1 striker is much better than what they’ve done.

Very naïve of Martinez.
