So win the group and face Japan in the last 16, but that is followed by Brazil/Mexico in the Qtr finals, then France/Argentina/Uruguay/Portugal in the Semis. Come 2nd in the group and we face a tricky game with Colombia in the last 16 followed by Switzerland or Sweden in the Qtr finals, then Spain/Russia/Croatia/Denmark in the semis.
One of those route is distinctly easier on paper but can any team ever play not to win and should they ever do that anyway?
Of course we could play for the draw and just get a couple of bookings and we won't have to lose!!

Thing is though now do we want to play columbia ? from what ive seen they will give us a tough ride and if we get a shit ref then were fucked they dive as soon as they see the goal in sight !!

There are no easy games left now, every team is in the last 16 on merit. Colombia looked poor today, Japan looked good the other day when they won, who knows which of their teams we will face. Colombia lost James today to injury, that makes a huge difference for them, so who knows??
Either way I can't see the players going out and not trying to win, he has made 8 changes, that means he is playing 8 players who want to make their mark on the WC and stake a claim in the team for the next round!! Surely they will give it their all and go for the win.

A team pumped out a major tournament by iceland shouldn't be underestimating japan or columbia.

eight changes for us and possible the same for them im not usre ? say we realy dont mind a draw hopefully this will be played in the spirit of 82 when west germany played Austria !!
Nobody on here is underestimating no team ? neither are the media ? there are easier games though is that not apparent to the scots ?

These would be considered monumental games to most Scots!!!!
Seriously though, one half of the draw looks a lot easier ON PAPER, thats all. Croatia have probably been the pick of the teams so far, they are in the bottom half but there is still a nagging feeling they have a bad game in them more so than some of those teams in the top half.
Not taking any team for granted, but you have to fancy your chances against some teams more than others. Iceland is a reminder of not getting ahead of yourself but we should still expect to beat Iceland.
I like that team he has put out, they will want to impress.

Rashford has done ok as well, at least we have seen a few balls over the top behind the defence to try to use his and vardy's pace.
