RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - Devongone - 14-03-2023 Oh Gawd, the mere mention of money-shuffling gives me the heebees. For us it ended up with owner in prison and points deduction. Once you start down a crooked road ........... Of course looking up at a crooked spire is entirely different. The truth may be out there, but it doesn't always land in your back garden. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - theo_luddite - 15-03-2023 Well, it could also just be soshul meedja conspiracy theory bollox too Devon. No smoke without fire and all that but it could just as easily be someone trying to light some damp kindling with no logs above it to start a real fire under their imitation logs electric fireplace. As Wakey said, he had an email 2 years ago that I more or less repeated off the top of my head from a post I read somewhere else on the t'interweb. I don't have the link but it would likely have been a DATM or Unexamined post somewhere. There are folk out there that post or push this kind of stuff just to see how long it takes to get back to them, and it's been going on for way longer than t'interweb has been around for. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - Lord Snooty - 15-03-2023 Well there ain't nowt about no transfer embargo on the official Town website, so it must be the Current Bun making stuff up again. ![]() RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - theo_luddite - 15-03-2023 I'll eat my hamster the day they report anything that could be called news. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - WakeyTerrier - 15-03-2023 https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/embargoes/ RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - theo_luddite - 20-03-2023 Lewis O'Brien https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/dc-united-sign-lewis-o-brien-on-loan-from-nottingham-forest Now, if that purchase option is pursued, then Forest will have to cough up the residue on the transfer fee to us in a lump sum rather than continuing to pay in instalments across what was the term of his contract. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - theo_luddite - 21-03-2023 add to that Wigan have been docked three points for not paying their players on time 4 times since June. Doing it again last month triggered the automatic deduction. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - theo_luddite - 21-03-2023 Great Uncle Bulgaria, or is it Orinoco or Wellington? Nope, sorry Woy Hodgson back in charge at Palace. ![]() ![]() Easy mistake to make ![]() RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - Lord Snooty - 21-03-2023 There's always somebody wanting out do us. We get a 74 year old manager, so they get one who's 75. Can we not have owt? ![]() RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - theo_luddite - 21-03-2023 The other annoying thing with Wigan is, and OK they've not outright not paid their players, they've paid them late, however they were supposed to ring fence 125% of their estimated monthly wage bill. I know with win/start/appearance bonus's it's a moving target but it isn't going to move that far at Wigan. They've beat us twice whilst not being in a position to meet their wage obligations. Likewise Reading have beaten us by not abiding by a budget they agreed to with the EFL, effectively cheating the whole division in every game played. In both cases this amounts to cheating as they are putting out sides they can't afford, but they only get a few points deducted. We and other clubs don't get the points back we/they otherwise might have won (and I'm not saying we'd have won all 3 games, but I doubt we'd have lost all 3 on a more level playing field). I know it's a guessing game, but if they've cheated all season, a 3 or 6 points deduction is not a fair reflection on what they might realistically have got playing to "the rules", whatever they are. |
