RE: Match Thread - Ipswich Town v SWFC - consilio - 16-08-2015

Steve's match report almost identical to what mine would be.

I thought Lopez was quality again and Joao will live playing with him once he starts to spot the right run to make.

I'd have started with Nuhiu with Joao off the bench if needed.

May has had it, he will be gone before the window. Surprised we haven't seen Bus, perhaps he may go as well. Lavery deserved to be left out he was awful against Mansfield. Hunt, Wallace, Lopez, Matias and Joao are excellent signings and will have great seasons.

I'd bring Semedo back in place of Hutch and Sasso or Lachman for Loovens who is clearly carrying a knock.

I'll be amazed if we don't win comfortably on Weds night.

In fact, is Lachman injured? He wasn't on the bench again.

I think Joao should be introduced from the bench for now. The problem is that as CC doesn't seem to think Bus or May can lead the line then it has to be Nuhiu.

I have said before that I would rest Hutch for all midweek matches so it will be something like:

Westwood (hopefully)
Hunt - Lees - Loovens - Helan
Lopez - Semedo
Wallace - McGugan - Matias
Nuhiu

Just seen the goals on TV & the first goal was initially Loovens mistake although Westwood should never be beaten on his near post from that angle.

1st goal was Helan's fault. He was man marking Loovens instead of folowing the runner which left him with a free shot on goal (which westwood should have saved).

We seemed to want to rush eevrything. When we were playing the ball to feet we were controlling the game but too often we wanted to get the ball up quickly to Joao who became isolated. Lees was the worst for this. If nothing is on in front then play it back and build up again.

I like the way Hutch drops into CB when we have the ball allowing the FB to bomb on creating a 352, although Helan seemed reluctant yesterday and was always 2 seconds behind play IMO

McGugan is brilliant when we have the ball but invisible when we havnt. Yesterday he was invisible because we wanted to cut out midfield for some reason.

Joao will be brill and I think playing him from the start yesterday was a good desicion on the back of his midweek performance, however, it soon became clear that he was isolated so I'd have brought Sougou on for McGugan, dropped Matiss back behind the striker and sougou on the wing to provide a quicker, more effective outlet than the hit and hope we operated yesterday.

Westwood should have come off at HT as it was clear before that he was injured.

Wouldnt give anyone ratings there was no one particularly outstanding but will say Wildsmith looks like he'll be a very dependable keeper eventually

I don't think there was a ton of criticism towards Helan in particular on the commentary, aside from the first goal where both he and Loovens were rightly criticized, but it was clear that Ipswich appeared to have targeted that side to attack more. Now due to Matias not tracking back (not sure we want him too either?) and Helan prone to being a bit rash it seemed that this tactic worked. I am sure that is also why Helan offered no threat going forward like Hunt was able to do at times because he knew their outlet was likely to be his wing.

I love the fact that those who went were impressed with Lopez. As I said earlier he wasn't mentioned that much during the commentary, which led me to think he had a quiet game, just like McGugan, maybe it's because he doesn't hold onto the ball for long and therefore there is no time to mention him or maybe I just didn't pick up his name being said.

That sums it up perfectly from the commentary side SCO!

For Wed I'd rest Westwood, Hutch and Loovens. Also, not start Joao

--------Wildsmith
Hunt Lees Sasso Wiggins (Helan if not Possible)
------Lopez Semedo
Wallace Mcgugan Matias
--------Nuhiu

Subs: Dawson Lachman, Melo, Lee, Palmer, Sougou, Joao
