Good to see Arfur's grandson getting a start me ol' china.

RE: Town away at Cardiff - Lord Snooty - 01-12-2020

Not very good first half. Schindler asleep for the goal. Lucky to be just one behind really. Need more penetration going forward.
Get McBenza on and stick Josh on the left side.

RE: Town away at Cardiff - Lord Snooty - 01-12-2020

Not very good second half either. It was just like the home game last season. We had all the possession, they just defended well and took their chances. They've had four shots and scored three goals.

RE: Town away at Cardiff - theo_luddite - 01-12-2020

2nd goal was the most embarrassing I've seen in years. The third was a bit but not far behind it and the first showed that like with all three, we can't mark a bingo card at the back.

I use the word embarrassing to cover up a long line of expletives that could either put me on the naughty step or get me banned. Just let your imagination run wild - every industrial and football four (or more) letter word you can think of, and a few you might need to look up could get you close.

Just awful - which after the way they played Saturday!!! .... Well if you will change half the team in one go Careless? I know some were unavoidable but not all of them surely, either from the starting or finishing 11. If we've got Wolves in our pocket, Cardiff certainly have us in theirs.

Don't want to pick out players for individual mistakes because all 11 (and subs) were anywhere but at the races today - that is the responsibility of the coaching staff and the guy that picks the team and the tactics, or the tic-tacs as my nephew once said. Which bit of their 4-0 win on Saturday were they watching when preparing for this game? Or did they just have our 3-2 win on continuous play-back?

RE: Town away at Cardiff - Lord Snooty - 02-12-2020

Not much to choose for man of the match, but I'm giving my vote to Koroma. Every time he got on the ball, it looked like something would happen. I don't think anybody else is worth rating. Eiting showed a few nice touches in the first half. But nobody else. Very disappointing.

Let's hope we don't get the 1st of December again next season. Only 4 wins out of 19 now. Sad

RE: Town away at Cardiff - WakeyTerrier - 02-12-2020

Well thats 15 games gone and i think its time for a school report on what we've seen so far
.
At times you can see what CC is trying achieve with the style of play but all too often like last night it was same old, same old. We simply do not have the players capable of playing his style of football. Far too much pasing around the back four which usually ends up with us gifting the opposition the ball in front of goal and not enough fire power further up the field.
We've lost games despite dominating possesion. Brentford 57% Preston 55% Birmingham 76% Bristol 62% Stoke 68% Cardiff 66%
The same applies for the draws, Rotherham 73% Luton 67% Wycombe 64%
We have the ball and do bugger all with it, Take Rotherham for example 73% possesion and just the 1 shot on target and even then it was an OG that got us a point.

Goalkeepers
Hamer- We all know he has a mistake him in, do we truly trust him..NO. Is he probably our best option..yes.
Pereira- One game and dropped out of sight. I think that tells you all we need to know about what CC thinks
Schofield- Young but not quite ready i think would be a fair assesment.

Defenders
Pipa- Good solid signing and boy do we miss him.
Toffolo- Again no real problems here.
Stearman- Experienced, could possibly win a race against Andy Booth but a liability. Needs shipping out
Duhaney- Played last night but the fact CC prefered Bacuna at Right back in the previous 2 games tells me CC doesnt really rate him.
Nabby Sarr, the only one of our first team center backs who looks like he can actually pass a ball forward more than 5 yards. Although didnt help his cause last night with the second goal but for me he is a starter.
Schindler. Love him to bits, he'll always be a Town legend but its clear to me he is a shadow of the player we signed. Struggles with passing out from the back, loses his man far too often and i'm afraid to say he need to move on.
Crichlow and Edmunds Green, I'd like to see more of them from the start and not chucked in like EG was last night when the ship was already sinking rapidly. In the limited time i've seen of them they look like they are comfortable with the ball at their feet and capable of bring the ball out of defence which i believe is what CC  would like to see the CB's doing.

Midfield/Forwards
Hogg, i thought we'd found a new position for him at Rotherham away, dropping into the middle of the the center backs to create a  back 3 while Toffs and Pipa bombed forward. It could still be the ideal position for him but unfortunately others around him let him down and he ends up looking dodgy due to his lack of control and passing ability on the ball.
O'Brien- Hit and miss so far. Needs to impose himself on the game more often
Bacuna- like Marmite you either love him or hate him. Sometimes he looks a decent player and other occasions he doesnt even look interested. It doesnt help when when we stick him in at right back.
Pritchard- Waste or time, effort and good money. He's not playing and for me we don't miss him either. Get shut in January at all costs.
Eiting- We need to get this lad on the ball more often. He's chipping in with goals and can spot a pass that others can't see. A genuine plus for the season.
Mbenza- Starting to improve and has looked lively in a few games. A starter for me but needs to back himself more when up against the full back. Not every move has to recycled.
Koroma- Player of the season so far. Yes his judgement of when to pass and when to shoot is sometimes questionable but he gives the opposition problems and has started to score goals from the wing.
Campbell- Doesnt do enough for me. Normally runs around a lot chasing the ball but when it comes to being in the right place at the right time he just doesn't cut the mustard. Ok as a back up striker.
Danny Ward- At long last he playing, rumour is they've renamed the Physio Room the Danny Ward Room. Needs more game time to show us that this was a good deal but hard to judge him on the little amount of playing time he has had so far.

The rest of them, we've not really seen much of them.

What do we need.
I think we need a keeper but it's highly unlikely the club do.
Defence, if he doesn't trust the young lads then i reckon we need somebody to play along side Sarr.(Not Schindler,Stearman or Elphick)
Cover for right back if he doesn't think Duhaney is up to it.
Midfield, we do look lightweight. we need someone to boss the midfield and give us direction to play alongside Eiting and O'Brien.
Forwards, right now we could do with someone up front who can score goals and put himself about. PH said we've strikers at the club but one has gone out on loan, one barely make the banch despite scoring goals for fun in the B-team, One has more minutes on the physio's bench than the pitch and the other has a poor return since joining Town

RE: Town away at Cardiff - Lord Snooty - 02-12-2020

Good assessment from the Headmaster Wakey.

It's not nice to see, but Schindy appears to be losing it, in the same way that other legendary centre backs did. Jacko, Peter Clarke, Hudson, all brilliant in the prime, but once you lose it in that position, you end up looking foolish. Stearman and Elphick were already at that stage when we signed them, so can't really say owt about that. But Schindy was just asleep for the first goal and then got out paced easily by one of the Cardiff players, can't remember who it was. This never happened when he first came. He had a brilliant first half last week before going off, but that was against what's really just a good League One side. We have to get REG and Crich in the side as soon as poss and don't drop them after one game.

I'm not sure about Wardy. I know he's been playing as the main striker since he left us, but when we had him before, he was really best playing out wide and cutting in. I think we need another main striker, because for all the hard work Campbell does, he's not gonna score enough goals. Hope I'm wrong with that.

I thought Daly was looking good last night, but somebody had to give way to bring Mbenza on.

Just a thought. He's probably our most skillful player. He's a great finisher. And he's played in almost every position in the team. Why not try Juninho as the main striker, or at least try him there in the B team? He's a bleedin' liability when he's in defence. Get him up the other end.
