RE: Childhood Holiday Essentials - WBA-Josh - 22-08-2020 I'm sure BaggieVicar will be along soon to tell us about his beach holidays in the 1890's. ![]() RE: Childhood Holiday Essentials - Baggievicar - 22-08-2020 Ah, young Josh, how well I remember those dear, dead, halcyon days. Our three essentials would be a manservant, a wicker picnic hamper and a daguerrotype of our beloved monarch. Mind you, the upgraded 1960s version would say a football, little national flags to stick on the sandcastles and the loaded money box with different slots in the top for ice creams and donkey rides. "Different Kites"...... great name for a band! ![]() RE: Childhood Holiday Essentials - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 24-08-2020 I saw Different Kites supported by Crabline at Donington in '87. RE: Childhood Holiday Essentials - Blue Baggie - 24-08-2020 Maybe another topic? Strange band names and pick a new name? I will post it, see how it goes. RE: Childhood Holiday Essentials - WBA-Josh - 24-08-2020 Crabline would be a great name for a Cornish pirate folk-metal band. RE: Childhood Holiday Essentials - Stairs - 30-08-2020 Pub sign cricket? We used to play license plate cricket (still do) - last number on the plate 0, 7, 8,or 9 was a wicket down and 1-6 were runs scored. We also had to make a word from the three letters - the letters had to be in sequence but not next to each other, longest word won a point e.g. 123 ABC could be word Alphabetic but Alphabetically would win the point. The one the kids enjoyed was Alphabetic eye spy - You all start on A and try to spot something outside the car beginning with A, once you had you moved onto B etc - the others could not spy the same thing and so it became harder. Naturally Q, X and Z were a challenge ![]() |
