RE: Millwall away - Lord Snooty - 21-07-2020

Quote:Huddersfield Town EDT Coach Danny Schofield is looking forward to the chance to manage the Terriers against Millwall on Wednesday evening.

Town’s Elite Development Coach will take charge of the First Team for their final Sky Bet Championship game of the season at The Den on Wednesday 22 July 2020.

Having spent a decade at Town as a player, Danny returned to the Club in February to work with the Academy’s EDT and Under-19 sides.

He’s now looking forward to the opportunity to work with the First Team from the dugout on Wednesday evening.

“It’s a great opportunity,” he said.

“I’m not sure whether this experience will ever come again, so I’m looking to enjoy every moment of it.

“Millwall being an ex-club of mine as well, I think it’s quite surreal really. I’m looking forward to it.”

On the night, he will be assisted by Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements, Academy Coach Jon Worthington and experienced centre-back Tommy Elphick, who is on the road to recovery from a long-term knee injury.

Speaking to the media for the first time since his appointment for Wednesday night’s game, Danny gave an insight into what it has been like working with those guys over the last 24 hours.

“It’s been really good. It’s obviously been a whirlwind in a short space of time but I think there’s a good mix there with Tommy still being a player, Clem working in the First Team now for a number of seasons, and me and Worthy coming in from the Academy.

“There’s been a really good blend and some really good discussions and ideas about how we prepare for this game which I’ve enjoyed.”

Town go into the season finale at The Den having all but secured their Sky Bet Championship status for another season, following Friday evening’s 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

With survival still not mathematically certain, Danny is hoping to build on the momentum from that win over the Baggies with a view to finishing the season in the best way possible.

“The focus is to go into that game as if it is of the upmost importance, so we need (the players) to perform for the Club, for the fans and for themselves as well to really give everything they can.

“I think a lot of good work has already been done at the First Team level. It’s a case, in the short period of time, continuing on that, continuing that momentum and hopefully we get a good result.”

To do that, Danny’s side will be tasked with overcoming a Millwall team that have been in good form in recent weeks, narrowly missing out on a Play-Off spot with one game to go.

Town’s Interim Manager gave his thoughts on Wednesday’s opponents.

“They’re very well organised. They have a very clear way of playing football and almost made the Play-Offs this season having just missed out.

“The job Gary Rowett has done in the time he’s been there has been fantastic really.”

Nice one Snoots. Rowett seems to get results, (anywhere but Stoke, but who does get results at Stoke?) however, for those complaining about the dire football the Cowley's were serving up in some games, it's every game with Rowett. Happily he's apparently not in the frame for us. Let's hope we're not appointing the Spanish Jan Siewert. There's enough bs going around to convince you that scrambled eggs are really an omelette at the moment.

RE: Millwall away - Lord Snooty - 22-07-2020

Huddersfield Town Coach Danny Schofield has made seven changes to his starting XI for this evening’s Sky Bet Championship game against Millwall; 7.30pm kick-off at The Den.

The first of those comes in goal as Joel Coleman replaces Jonas Lössl; this will be the ‘keeper’s fourth appearance for Town this season. His last start came against Fulham back in February.

Young right-back Demeaco Duhaney returns to the starting XI in place of Trevoh Chalobah, whilst Andy King replaces Jonathan Hogg in the middle of midfield.

There are changes in all of Town’s attacking positions. Top scorer Karlan Grant comes back in; he’s bagged 18 goals for the Terriers this season. Alex Pritchard also returns and will make his 150th career league start.

Young winger Aaron Rowe will start his second game for the Terriers! His last appearance came in the Premier League against West Ham in March 2019.

The final one comes up front as Steve Mounié leads the line in place of Fraizer Campbell, who isn’t risked after a knock during the season restart.

Young Terriers Scott High and Micah Obiero are on the bench for Danny Schofield’s side this evening.

This will be Scott’s sixth inclusion in a match day squad this season. The central midfielder is the Club’s Under-19 and EDT Captain.

Micah joined the Club's Academy during the 2016/17 season and has made great strides during that time. He's been in prolific form for the Under-19s and Elite Development Team bagging 12 goals before the season was curtailed.

Like Campbell, Juninho Bacuna misses out and continues his recovery from a pre-existing knock.

RE: Millwall away - theo_luddite - 22-07-2020

No need to change my goalscorers then. I see Schoffer has played a straight bat and only made 7 changes, including benching the two lads that scored against The Baggies

RE: Millwall away - Lord Snooty - 22-07-2020

Nice to see Aaron Rowe back though. I'd forgotten about him.

Schindler has pulled a sicky. Trev in to replace him.

RE: Millwall away - theo_luddite - 22-07-2020

Schindy not playing apparently - unwell? Only match he's missed

RE: Millwall away - Lord Snooty - 22-07-2020

Lewis O'Brien to skipper the side.

RE: Millwall away - theo_luddite - 22-07-2020

Any happier Wakey?

RE: Millwall away - Lord Snooty - 22-07-2020

Hope the new coach can tighten this defence up. Rolleyes

The XI on the pitch now must be our youngest ever first team.

Think there's only Stearman over 21.

And Toffolo.

God to see us put in a positive performance after sacking DC - oh, hang on a minute. Good job we were safe.
