Soft penalty. Ah well, makes up for all the stonewallers we didn't get in the Premier

And then we gift them an equaliser.

Well Mbenza has scored......at Canalside for the reserves. Rolleyes

Good start then made a right bugger of it. Regarding my previous post, switch references to Town and Blackburn around defensively and you ain't far off.

We played a lot better in the second half when bacuna came on. They caught our disease of backing off when someone runs at them and it worked.

Onto Wednesday and Saturday. 7 points from 3 games would be nice

Not the best game ever, but a point away from home at a place like Blackburn is always a good one. We started off on the back foot but as soon as we got Diakhaby into the game, we looked dangerous. He won us a penalty, a very soft one, given by a referee who would go on to give dubious decisions to both sides throughout. We don't turn down chances like this now and it was once again put away well by Karlan Grant.
We were cruising, Rovers looked poor. But they had been watching us and knew we tended to fanny around with the ball at the back, something I thought the Cowleys were going to cut out, and Armstrong intercepted a poor pass from Elf-Prick and two passes later the ball was in the back of the net. Said it before and I'll say it again how bloody annoying it is that we have to work so hard to get goals and then we give them away so lightly. Danny and Nicky really do have to stop that.
Their second goal though was very well worked and taken. It was poor from a Town perspective as it came from a throw in and we had plenty of defenders in place, but well played to the boy Dack for shooting and to the German lad Holtby for leaving him to it. Holtby looked a good acquisition for Rovers, on a free from Hamburg. Why didn't our German scouts flag this one up?
Into the second half and we picked up the pace and looked like we would get the equaliser. And so we did. On come super sub Bacuna to make it three in three. He looks much more like the player we had at the back end of last season now. A confidence player, who has obviously been give that confidence back by the new management team. Apparently, a quick trip home to see his baby was all it needed.
We created more chances, O'Brien again getting all over the place and setting up attacks. None better than when Grant got clear late on to win it for us, only for a Blackburn defender to get back and make a terrific last ditch tackle. And late on the over fussy referee kept giving them silly free kicks which caused panic in front of our telly. But nothing came of it and we walk away with a well earned point.
