RE: The Great VAR Debate - ritchiebaby - 09-07-2019 I voted NO because, to my mind, it will have to be used in all national leagues in all countries. I can't believe that is going to happen. Also it can be seen as letting referees off the hook when it comes to big decisions, and when used too often breaks up the flow of the game. RE: The Great VAR Debate - Devongone - 09-07-2019 Football is JUST A GAME. It isn't a war, nobody is breaching the Vienna Convention, nobody is going on trial at The Hague. At its best the game can be heroic and demonstrate our best impulses. It should encompass playing to the rules and accepting decisions honestly made …. whether we think they were right or wrong. VAR destroys the opportunity for human beings to behave properly and accept and uphold the rules and the spirit of the game. It is an acceptance of the purely robotic. Next step equip players with headsets so their movements can be dictated by algorithm? |
