Saturday 25th January 2003, League Division 2 (now League 1) if my sauces sources and my two remaining memory cells are correct. 1-0 following a 4-0 stuffing at their's between the Christmas Turkey and the New Year hangover. Got to love those festive derby matches we had back then. ![]() Boothy scored, we were errr 23rd, and on the way to what was nearly oblivion, bancruptcy and ownership by a bloke that really only wanted to make sure Fartown survived, but he put his brass where his mouth was at the time and we are all grateful he did. Oh, and they were 4th so that was a half tidy result too. We didn't win too many more after this as we stopped paying anyone and everyone. https://www.11v11.com/matches/huddersfield-town-v-cardiff-city-25-january-2003-15221/ I'd come back from my 7 year journey across the pond just in time for the season to start. ![]() Points, goals, attack, attack, attack. No silly fouls 10 yards from our box or in our box please Wagbo. Do that and given the 8pm kick off I might even go to Smoke on Tuesday - hell I used to go to Port Vale often enough back in the day. Parking near the ground or even in it was a bit easier than Smoke's current place next to the A500/A50 in Smoke-on-Stench though. Expect throw-in's like Exocet/Scud missiles and hoofball from Colin's men. RE: Huddersfield v cardiff match thread - jjamez - 25-08-2018 Hamer Hadergjonaj Zanka Schindler Kongolo Billing Hogg Mooy Diakhaby Van la parra Mounie Lossl Smith Lowe Stankovic Mbenza Pritchard Depoitre Part of me thinks and hope I'm wrong but I dont think he knows his best lineup anymore or what formation suits us anymore. Spending too much time thinking/fearing the other side. Hopefully it results in a 3-0 win RE: Huddersfield v cardiff match thread - theo_luddite - 25-08-2018 Richarlison sent off today for Everton. He got dragged off when playing for Watfud against us last season. RE: Huddersfield v cardiff match thread - Lord Snooty - 25-08-2018 Well at least we have a point. ![]() RE: Huddersfield v cardiff match thread - jjamez - 25-08-2018 Three positives from today. 1)clean sheet 2) 1 point 3) the ref ended the game Lossl- did ok when he came on, good save from ward in second half. Hadergjonaj- very poor, bordering abysmal. Cant cross for toffee, makes a lot of rash challenges. Smith goes back a lot, but possess a better cross. Zanka- was ok, no better, no worse Schindler- had a better game than last week, seems poorer in the air so far this season, doesnt seem to read it as well Kongolo- man of the match, some good crosses and one good shot. Although you can tell he's a centre half playing out of position Hogg- completely immature reaction at that corner. Not the action of a leader. Hard to defend his performance Mooy- must be hard for him. Wants to sit deeper and run a game, but is expected to do everything. Billing- frustrating player. Looks the part then looks out of place. His long throw didn't look as long as normal. Very loopy. Diakhaby- very disappointing considering we've been wanting a winger. Has pace, but no first touch. Might be better on the left. But in all honesty, quaner appears to offer just as much, if not more. Rajiv- commits defenders but his brain melts the further up he gets Mounie- one header at the back post. Not many aerial duels won during the game. Rather anonymous Mbenza- had one moment where he showed a lot of pace. Other than that, not an impressive cameo Depoitre- had one half chance at the end where bamba got a touch to take it away from him. Wagner- seemed like he got the tactics wrong again. We lack oomph and zip. Very pedestrian when on the ball. His constant rhetoric over no limits and how we have to be brave and fight is all well and good, but it isnt showing on the pitch, bar a headbutt. We dont seem to have any idea or direction, we look like we are lacking fitness wise too. Whats equally worrying is that the signings this summer seem to be poor, we've got no better, verging on poorer. Hoyle has appointed the guy from Germany as director of football and we've neither seen nor heard from him, he doesn't seem to have any input either RE: Huddersfield v cardiff match thread - sloppyattheback - 26-08-2018 JJ has summed up the player ratings bang on Hadergonads was bloody awful considering his pace to get into good positions, Hogg plain stupid and Hamer going off injured made Herr Vagner's loyalty choice easy re-introducing Denmark's No 3 back into things. Disappointing we just cant create anything worthwhile, the pub was quieter before the game, large areas of empty seats, our away support not selling out and it just doesnt feel right at the moment top to bottom. I guess we just need to give the new guys game time to find their feet and get used to our unusual style of play, drill out of them any flair they bring and pass side to side and backwards. However keep the faith boys n girls, in a strange way looking forward to see the kachunga, Williams, Bacuna,Stankovic,Smith, Lowe trot out & play on Tuesday in Schhhhtowke before we head to Everpool for what looks another pumelling on paper at the weekend. Hoggs absence will at least force us to play a standard back 4 instead of a safety 5 and hopefully get some ball in the opponents half for the next couple of league games. RE: Huddersfield v cardiff match thread - Lord Snooty - 26-08-2018 We've been through worse than this. Not playing well, not winning games that we should, then out of the blue......bang! 4-1 at Watford. 4-1 at home to Bournemouth. And we're off again. I wouldn't even say confidence is low. The lads look very confident in what they're doing. We shall come good again! ![]() RE: Huddersfield v cardiff match thread - SHEP_HTAFC - 28-08-2018 It was a turgid display at home to one of the teams that will be in and around us at the end of the season. No real bite and was difficult to watch. I saw Wolves give it a real go v Man City earlier. Looked more dangerous in one half of footy than we have in 3 games combined. We need a shake up. Was gobsmacked when I saw Pritchard not playing. He was just what we needed against a tough physical side. jjamez got it spot on with player ratings. Only Kongolo came out of that match with any credit. RE: Huddersfield v cardiff match thread - WakeyTerrier - 28-08-2018 I wanted to go home at half time, says it all really |
