RE: Take Over - Devongone - 25-07-2018 Oh no Dancing and Blue both starkers ......... this leaves Matt and I in an impossible position. Must say I agree - the fans should turn up for Tommy. If there were six or seven thousand for a friendly for someone the fans have loved it would be a real demonstration of how alienated they feel when home league attendances returned to half that figure ....... It would show how much they want to identify with the club. Well in my opinion Dancing, it should have been played on a Saturday instead of a Wednesday night at 7pm. 7pm is a bit of a weird kick off time too. I agree, but could we have got Wigan then? Kicking off at eight on a summer's evening would have been lovely. 7 pm isn't easy, if you finish work at 5.00 have to travel home, pay attention to wife and kids, eat the meal lovingly prepared and get back out to the Proact for 7pm. And what if it is the wife who is the football fan and hubbie the long-suffering cook? Is it a floodlight issue? Are we cost-cutting at Tommy's expense? Haha love it Devon. Think Wigan have got Rangers on Saturday. If its a cost-cutting issue does that mean all home games will be played at midday when the clocks go back? RE: Take Over - Dancingwilldoit - 25-07-2018 KO was put back to 7-15. Only 2700 turned up. That just shows how fickle our fans really are. We matched them just about everywhere, must admit was quite impressed. Saw more effort in 90 mins tonight than all last season. Muggletons lad has got one hell of a throw in. You really should see it, its like a bullet to the far side of the goalmouth. I've never seen anything like it. He was playing as a trialist but unfortunately didn't seem to do a deal else. With the commitment shown tonight we might just do OK. RE: Take Over - bluepooch - 26-07-2018 You couldn't fail to be impressed with the commitment and organisation of the team and I think we will be difficult to beat this season.Wigan had all their best players on but you couldn't tell much difference between the two sides for long spells .Just a mention for the black guy buzzing about up front causing no end of problems for their defence with his trickery ,it certainly wasnt Zavon Hines or at least the Zavon I saw last season. RE: Take Over - Dancingwilldoit - 26-07-2018 It all hinges on Martin Allen, if he stays am sure we will be OK but if he walks because of boardroom changes I can see us having yet another turgid season. Hines was superb last night. It makes you wonder just what went on last season. Maguire seems to have come on loads, watching his big brother must have done him good. Started at left back and moved in after changes. The whole team philosophy is to have players who can play more than one position and with a small squad we need that. Rumour is something will be made official today re the takeover. Lets wait and see. RE: Take Over - Devongone - 26-07-2018 Zavon Hines started last season the same way in the Vanarama. He was ripping teams apart and people were saying he was too good for this level, then either he stopped, or the other teams got wise. By the time he came to us he seemed to have run his race for the season ............ will this season be a repeat? RE: Take Over - spireitematt - 26-07-2018 Takeover is called off. Martin Allen is pleased because he would have left if it had gone through. RE: Take Over - Dancingwilldoit - 26-07-2018 Are you sure Matt? |
