Norman had an absolute shocker. It wasn't just the sitter he missed everything he did seemed to give the ball to Newcastle. I know they they switched him when Gamboa came on but it shouldn't have made that much difference.
Don't shoot me down but I thought Brunt was the pick of our players.

Completely devoid of any ideas in that narrow, boxy 4-4-2. I understand the reasoning behind the decision to bring in Anichebe but it restricted our forward play. Both Berahino and Anichebe stayed high up the pitch and that led to no available simple forward pass. When Sessegnon is in the hole we always have that option.
Another problem was Dorrans and brunt on their "natural" sides. We should have switched them around so they would be inverted. This would have made it easier to move the ball forward when both players move into central positions.
Wisdom was also poor today so he should be dropped for the next match with Gamboa ahead of him at right back. We also need Sessegnon back in with the 4-2-3-1 formation back in use.
No more boxy 4-4-2 please AI because it is a poor system, which restricts attacking play.

Awful. Who is it on here that moans about us not being on TVS enough. I can see why we are not and I just wish Sky would cancel the remaining slots. Diabolical.
Arsenal, Chelsea and then QPR. I doubt we will get points from any of these based on that performance!
I'd swap Irvine for Pardew and throw in Vic for good measure. We are going to be glad there are worse teams than us come the end of the season,

Please, please let that be the end of the Hodgson-style 4-4-2 at home. It's predictable, and it leads inevitably to performances like today. We could have played all night and not scored. Awful, awful, awful.
I find myself once again thinking that Varela can't get fit soon enough, but I'm also well aware that hoping for salvation from a player who hasn't even appeared in a league match yet is a worrying indictment of the players we do have available.
So the pressure's once again on going into a difficult run of games. The last time we were this dire was against Everton, and to his credit, Irvine was then able to conjure up a response. We need another response, Alan. We need a big one.
