Well that Italian World Cup side was a good side. It definitely wasn’t the best or most attractive team in the tournament but it was typically Italian at the time. A hard-working, solid defensive base out of possession and individual genius players in possession like Pirlo and Totti.

It’s pleasing to see that Italian football has moved away from that type of football though. After it’s nosedive at the end of the decade following Calciopoli, teams started to change how they operate. Coaches started to become more progressive and started to want more attractive football. Of course you still have functional coaches like Maran and Ballardini (Italy’s Tony Pulis) but generally the football played is more attractive and easy on the eye.

I love the Italian coaches! They have a real passion and enthusiasm for the game generally, and their team in particular. Unlike the manufactured dull, monotone dross that the home -grown HC's come out with, they all seem to have the same passion and charm.
GIVE ME A HEAD COACH WHO ACTUALLY CELEBRATES WHEN HIS TEAM SCORES!!
There MUST be some exceptions but Ranieri, Conte, our own RDM, Benitez spring instantly to mind, and all have this in bucketloads!

Benitez is Spanish.
I do agree with you though. Italian coaches generally make for good entertainment on the touchline. Plenty of passion and desire. Even the newer coaches like Roberto De Zerbi and Simeone Inzaghi have that Italian passion whilst also combining it with the modern-day calmness. (Like RDM was)
It’s a shame there aren’t more Italian coaches in England. Maybe Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are on there way to Arsenal and Chelsea. (I hope Sarri doesn’t leave Napoli though because he still has unfinished business and needs to win the title next season)
