RE: 3 in today - bluepooch - 06-01-2018 Eastwood was looking decent so for Jack to ditch him is telling me Rammers is the dogs bollox.I trust Jacks judgement ...I think . RE: 3 in today - Dancingwilldoit - 06-01-2018 Maybe we only had him until the window opened, who knows. Its a strange one. RE: 3 in today - Devongone - 06-01-2018 I go into every match I PLAY thinking I can do well and win (or at least I did), but supporters have to exercise some critical function, or they can't understand what's happening and will be permanently either elated, or dejected. I've tried to keep everyone's feet, including my own, on the ground about Jack Lester, because I was pretty damned sure he had to hit a rough patch, because his team and the club itself were essentially sh1t. And now we've been hit by an extreme injury crisis to compound his problems. Unfortunately looking at Joe Hart, being allowed a game today at Shrewsbury, Jordan Pickford, looking like the worst decision-maker on earth last night against Liverpool, and Jack Butland who sometimes appears incapable in situations I'm sure I could have handled ........ I don't think any English goalie is the dog'sbollox. If Ramsdale IS, then there's a trip to Russia calling! But his reputation is excellent (in his age-group). Misfortune has dealt us a situation with two centre backs and a keeper (which I think is the core of any team) who are very young indeed. I'm all for giving youth its head, but I'd be feeling a lot better if one of the three were an experienced solid man for the other two to rely on ......... But whatever decision Jack makes over keepers I can understand. He could be quite right over which is the best keeper ....... and the lad could still have a brilliant or a sh1t game. Football crowds tend to expect the impossible, because they arrive full of hope. Unfortunately they are often all too quick to turn on those who they think have let them down. If Laurence Maguire comes through today smiling and we keep a clean sheet I won't be acclaiming him a new hero, and if it falls apart I won't think Billy Kee's hat-trick should mark the end of his Chesterfield career ......... And if Jack Lester can't save us this season it won't be me calling for his sacking. I'll still support him, but I'll always have my own ideas and be critical of some of the things he does too. Matt you are too smart to be a happy-clappy, as is Dancing. AND that's why I sometimes get at Pooch, because he's far also too smart always to be optimistic. It's lovely that that is his natural outlook, but when he steps outside of that and becomes objective, he's well worth listening to, even when we disagree. Winning at Accrington would be a real feat of management after this week's upheavals. Unfortunately for Jeremy to win, how the Tories handle their party, the country and negotiations will be bigger factors than anything he does himself. But I think he'll win too, Tories are as efficient at spiking their own drinks as Labour, can't wait for John McDonnell as Chancellor. RE: 3 in today - bluepooch - 06-01-2018 Dev,regarding town I'm only optimistic when I feel there is something to be optimistic about and I'm pessimistic when I have something to feel down about .I like to think I'm a realist and I can hear you and Dancing sniggering to yourselves but its all about opinions its what makes the game great .There is hardly any black and white unless you're an NCFC OR NUFC fan. Lets hope the team gels today whoever plays but if it doesn't its not the end of the world and I will still have faith in Jack to get it right .Its one game ,Hes asking for 4 windows and I've no reason to doubt it . RE: 3 in today - Dancingwilldoit - 06-01-2018 COG not in the team McCourt and Kellet on the bench with German. All the new signings straight in. Could be an interesting afternoon. RE: 3 in today - Devongone - 06-01-2018 (06-01-2018, 15:38)bluepooch Wrote: Dev,regarding town I'm only optimistic when I feel there is something to be optimistic about and I'm pessimistic when I have something to feel down about .I like to think I'm a realist and I can hear you and Dancing sniggering to yourselves but its all about opinions its what makes the game great .There is hardly any black and white unless you're an NCFC OR NUFC fan. You are quite often unrealistically optimistic, just as I am unrealistically pessimistic that's all. Your thinking starts at a very different point on the spectrum to mine. It doesn't mean you can't be right. All it means is you are difficult to convince you are wrong - like me from the opposite direction! Sorry pessimism won out today. I can't believe Nelson has the experience to play with Maguire and Ramsdale. That would need a man with a few seasons behind him. We just have to see what the next few weeks can bring and what Jack can do with those he signs. I didn't want to upset Matt with further pessimism when I wrote this morning, but I was going to forecast 3-0. Sometimes there are just too many gaps for a manager to cover. But then I think that applies to the whole club, not just on the pitch. RE: 3 in today - spireitematt - 06-01-2018 Guess I was wrong thinking we would win. Luton at home is going to be very very tricky. Top of the table Luton have scored quite a few goals past teams this season, could do with getting a draw against them. What is particular worrying is Yeovil, Morecambe, Forest Green are starting to win games and are starting to pull away from the drop zone and if we don't try and keep up we could get left behind. 19 games left and we need 8-9 wins. It wouldn't surprise me if Jack puts his boots on again. Dev I'm not a happy clapper, I'm just trying to stay positive and have an optimistic outlook on things. I'm not happy at the fact that we are in the bottom 2 and struggling to stay up. To be honest I never thought in a million years we would be down at the bottom struggling in L2 especially 3 years ago when we were in the L1 playoffs and 2 games away from Wembley and 3 games away from the Championship but I guess that's football. RE: 3 in today - bluepooch - 07-01-2018 So Rammers didnt turn out to be the dogs bollox then he turned out to be dog shit . However ,I'm gonna be optimistic again Dev ,He cannot possibly be this bad surely .What is it about him that persuaded Bournemouth to part with nearly a million quid for him ?.Lets give him a few games to make a judgement on him .I didnt go today so wont judge any of the new guys until next week . RE: 3 in today - Dancingwilldoit - 07-01-2018 I honestly don't know why everybody is focussing on our defence. We haven't scored in 5 bloody games. That's what needs addressing. Dennis has lost his touch and in the last few games I have seen him in he looks like he doesn't want to be here IMO. When our defenders are under the cosh its because our forwards aren't performing and doing their job. The object of the game is to score goals, if we don't do that we don't stand a cat in hells chance of staying up, 0-0 draws are just not good enough now. What I struggle with is the fact that JL used to be a striker and yet since he came in our forward play just hasn't improved. Dennis has gone backwards and COG - well what can I say. What we need is Dennis and COG out and a couple of proven lge 2 strikers in and quick. Score goals and it gives the rest of the team a boost, the defence will dig in more if we are winning and you never know we might win a few games. RE: 3 in today - bluepooch - 07-01-2018 Dancing we keep getting hammered and that's down to the whole team not just one area.Just listening to Jacks post match interview ,he really didn't want to talk but he has to face up to the situation .He defended the keeper saying hes going to be a top keeper and he will be doing some more transfer dealing in the next few weeks . By the sounds of it the new players weren't to blame yesterday apart from the keeper of course . Do we need a totally new team ? I think by the end of Jan we will be a long way towards this then we can judge Jacks recruitment ability |
