Hahaha you won't hear any complaints from me mate!

Bit of advice for Saturday, I'll be coming up on the coach and will probably have at least an hour and a half spare for a pint or three. Where the best place closest to the ground that'll let in away fans? I've been told The Gas Club is only about a 5 minute walk away and that sounds decent.

Any other suggestions?

I still think tho, that if we lose the next 3 - which we could well do - he'll be skating on VERY thin ice .....in fact I can't see him surviving then.

should we lose on saturday, and i`m expecting it
Mr Pulis won`t be sacked
i actually don`t think our owners realise how much fans(not all of them i will add) want this guy out of our club.
but what managerial options are out there?

Personally I don't think it's a simple as the owners not being in tune with the fans.

Not so long ago John Williams clearly must have played a big part in giving Pulis his contract extension, and only a short while after he's now presented with a really difficult situation. The powers that be that will ultimately make the call on whether Pulis stays or goes is no longer in the boardroom, it's in Lai's hands in China.

Let's say John Williams was in discussion with Lai right now about bringing in a new manager - some very difficult questions may be asked of him as to why he gave a thumbs up to extend Pulis' contract in the first place. Is that the factor on why there's these articles coming out in the press?

I think we'd have seen action taken by now if Jeremy Peace was still our chairman, though.

As far as other options go, I felt Everton pulled the trigger on Koeman far too quickly. If he'd come to us is a different matter altogether.

Sir Megson, I put a guide to pubs in my match preview. They are the closest pubs. The Gas Club gets the best write ups for value, etc from other visitors. We have been to a party there and the drinks were cheap but that was 10 years ago. The Head of Steam in town is supposed to be ok for real beer drinkers. Will try to get you more advice.

I have asked Wakey to put his twopenneth in about the pubs. I don't think he will mind me saying that he knows his beer.  Idea

So does theo, me thinks.

Thanks Amelia, much appreciated.

You're giving Ska'd a run for his money with your match preview there, it's a boster!

Mine is a mere short story compared to some of Snooty's and theo's. They are masters. lol

RE: Tony Pulis - Alouion - 02-11-2017

I am sure I will fall out with some posters on this forum but hey-ho.
The club would be crazy to get rid of Pulis without giving him every chance to get us out of this situation which is at this point in time, is no worse than it was this time last year.
Some times we fans are own worst enemies. Clubs have been panicked into bad decisions taking them out of the frying pan and into the fire. Newcastle got rid of Allardyce when mid-table and they sank like a stone. Wolves kicked out McCarthy and plummeted under Connor. Remi Garde replaced Sherwood at Villa. He came with some pedigree in France but never got to grip with the Premier.
Like all Albion fans I am disappointed that, after what most of us thought was a good window we have failed to kick on. New players have underperformed and the defence has buckled at crucial points late in games surrendering 7/8 points. However the difference between success and failure is paper thin. We missed 3 points against Watford by seconds. We played against 12 at Arsenal.
Pulis, with his style of football has always divided opinions and when we don't get results the knives are, not surprisingly, out. However he has NEVER been relegated and I don't believe that will happen this year.

I have loved this club since the days of Ronnie Allen and Ray Barlow. I have seen the good, the great and the gruesome. The modern day premier league is as good as it gets. Just ask Wolves and Villa who for all their jokes would give their all to be where we are.Our football is dull but not much worse than a dozen other clubs in this league. That is the nature of the Premier. Several top clubs with shedloads of money and 13 others just hanging in there or passing through. Pulis has consistently proven to be as good as it gets at keeping clubs in the greed league.
I don't want us to be playing lovely stuff in the championship.

I see Pulis, rather than Schaaf, Potter, McInnes, Pardew, Moyes et al, as the best bet to get us back on track. Keep the faith lads, we will prevail.

RE: Tony Pulis - bomberbrown1968 - 03-11-2017

Great post Alouion, and whether people agree or disagree you've made your point really well.

My spirits would be raised if we were to win Saturday no doubt, what really frustrates me is just how dull we are and still losing. Who knows how we'd get on if we were just a bit more adventurous, but we've been saying that the last 6 weeks

RE: Tony Pulis - drewks - 03-11-2017

Love the 2 posts above.
In the last 5-6 weeks - and for the first time - I've been against keeping TP on,  and that feeling has grown in that period after every game, because of the way we've been set up and obviously been told to play.
I still feel that, but I also agree with most of what Alouin says! Maybe we DO weather this storm, sigh, huff & puff, moan etc for another month, then see where we are.
I also still feel, though, that if we lose the next 3, we will be turning the page.

RE: Tony Pulis - WeeWillie - 03-11-2017

Don't worry lads, it's not entertaining but he's guaranteed to keep us up......

RE: Tony Pulis - Dingle-Dingle - 03-11-2017

Never been relegated. Never will. He would walk before that happens.

Are these reports the dreaded vote of confidence?. One can only hope so. DD Doh Doh

That is what I fear the chairman and board feel so therefore they will seek to keep him even if we drop into the bottom three.

With Blackburn, Williams always gave his managers more than enough time to turn things around which in the modern game is good to see. However there also comes a time when a change has to be made and delaying the inevitable will cause more harm long term.

RE: Tony Pulis - talkSAFT - 04-11-2017

10 pts from 10 games sounds almost reasonable (with Pulis telling us "we're improving"), but we've had a really easy start with our fixtures, and would have targeted 17 or 18 pts on the board by now.
Come next April we'll be rueing the 0 pts at Brighton, and just the 3pts gathered at Home to WHam, Stoke, and Watford,
