Sounded like we played ok though carrying on from Tuesday night .Sounded like a inspired substitution from Jack to take Wiseman off and bring on Briggs when he made an immediate impact by creating the goal ,unfortunately it looked like Briggs was partly to blame for both their goals .
I do like Jacks self assured positivity .He talks not about IF we can put a run together but WHEN we put a run together.
I hope his conviction doesn't prove to be unfounded but it looks like we are improving even if the results don't necessarily show it .

So hypothetically we could still get promotion. Very very unlikely though haha.

I was looking at the league tables earlier on this afternoon and seeing if any team at the bottom have been in this run of form and still managed to stay up and Newport managed to do it last season.

Just see the goals .How anyone can say Anyon wasnt at fault is beyond me .Ok the first goal drifted into the top corner wind assisted but he wasnt within 4 feet of it ,most keepers would have least got close .As for the second, he should have pushed the initial shot away for a corner or even held on to it .
The guy seems a likeable guy and some aspects of his game ie his kicking and general shot stopping are ok but he is too small and will always concede above his head and on crosses.Someone on the Bobs board said he looks like an outfield player playing in goal temporarily and that sums him up.

As you know I'm definitely NOT Mr Blue Sky, but it was very much what I expected. I don't think it was reasonable to expect Jack to turn this squad into winners. He's got to get them to be in every game and winning some of the time until the January window. And it sounds as though we were in the game at least.

I have been liking our foul counter going down, but this time it was up. Bad sign!

One of our problems is that our two closest apparent rivals are not only better than us, they also both have a top goalscorer and I don't think either of them will be in the relegation mix at the end of the season ......... and because they are improving we are already way off the pace, which could be dispiriting. (I think Neil Aspin is a shrewd appointment at Vale and if we are going to recruit non-league players we are going to find ourselves in competition with him, because he's developed a whole load of players who have come through to league success from non-league .....)

Carlisle is a chance to win. Should we be scared of Devitt and Liddle? The two goalscorers that took them to the top of the table for so long the other year are now at Cambridge and Bradford respectively. I'm still of the opinion that Hird and Evatt can only fail in the long run and that at some point we have to be brave enough to play Maguire with Evatt and play Hird just in front of them. Jack is trying to protect our centre backs, but at the moment he doesn't have the players to do it particularly well. And another problem you get when your centre backs lack pace is that your full backs end up in bad positions and making mistakes, because they are permanently on the alert to cover across ........ rather than concentrating on their own job.

I can't say I'm any more hopeful, but I'm certainly not any less. It did only take Ricky German 19 minutes to score for Sheffield and Jack Brownell made their other goal (and he's been making or scoring every week!) I'm still wondering if anyone notices. Willock was only sub for Kettering who played Slough in a top of the table clash that gave them a 0-0 draw. He came on as sub and got 5 out 10 for the performance.

What is happening with O'Grady and Ugwu? How is Tommy? And is the legendary Binnom-Williams still a month away from playing?

All injured Dev ...apparently

RE: Unbelievable Jeff - spireitematt - 22-10-2017

Just seen the highlights. The first Cambridge goal no keeper would have been able to have dealt with that and it looks like the wind took the ball into the net. The 2nd goal we let in was really poor. Anyon saved the first shot, 2nd was blocked and the 3rd time it went in the net. The 2nd goal was scrappy and should have been dealt with.

I think Jack has improved the team since he took charge but its still going to take time.

Also Jon Nolan at Shrewsbury has been banging them in and West Ham are apparently interested. Really hope we got a sell on clause.

RE: Unbelievable Jeff - bluepooch - 22-10-2017

Seems we disagree over Anyon .In my opinion he is a liability ,even the disallowed goal he was lucky to get away with .I might give him some leeway with the wind yesterday but it seems most games he makes a glaring error, we cannot afford to carry him and he needs to be replaced asap if we have any hope of staying up.

I want to know why we let Chapman leave. He's No 1 at Accrington now and does well for them. I also thought we should have kept Lloyd Allinson.

RE: Unbelievable Jeff - bluepooch - 23-10-2017

Yeah wasnt it Danny Wilson who let Chapman go ? He would be challenging Tommy if he was here now .

RE: Unbelievable Jeff - Devongone - 23-10-2017

And which Pooch was it who was all in favour of playing an injured Tommy at Bradford, when Chapman was fit and available and told me the decision had already been made to release him at the end of his contract?

So he never got a league game for us, but had been picked in front of Bristol Rovers first choice whilst on loan ............

I'd have tried to extend his contract, but he was released whilst we wasted six weeks thinking Tommy had a minor injury. Then medics told Danny the truth and we had to loan in Liverpool's sixth choice idiot for a season. Unless he'd known Tommy was seriously injured I doubt Aaron'd have accepted another offer to sit on our bench anyway.

To be honest I've seen a couple of bad goals he's let in for Accrington this season, but he's way ahead of Joe Anyon who I think gave himself no chance at all on a very difficult but possible first goal at Cambridge and was culpable on the second. Accrington picked another keeper in front of Chapman over half of last season and have only been prevented doing so this season by injury to the guy they clearly wanted between the sticks .......
