Thanks for the word on Bewdley too, Baggieman, I have looked there as well, and I shall also re-visit the Staffordshire Moorlands too. Enjoy your break there, Baggie Vicar!

Let me know when you’re coming Aries... if I’m around, maybe meet up for a pint or lunch.

Smile

Stourport did not tick our boxes Aries but I appreciate that it is an entirely personal opinion. We looked at Bewdley, Stourport, Bridgnorth and Bromsgrove and could not find what suited us. We chose Droitwich in the end and after several years there decided that that town did not suit either.
My wife and I are Black country, she was actually born in West Brom and I was born in Bearwood. The only place we both unconditionally loved was Penkridge in Staffs. The fact that it was full of Wolves fans added to its attractions when your team is in the Prem and they are not. We had 2 wonderful years there and only moved because of the unsufferable motorway journey back to Birmingham during our latter employment years. When the opportunity came to move back there we simply could not find a house in the area we wished to live for love or money.
We now live on the outskirts of Wellington in Shropshire on the very edge of the Wrekin. We moved here for largely family reasons. Wellington is far from attractive but when you get to know it , it has a lot going for it. Great connections to North Wales and Birmingham and a market that has been there since 1244. With Ironbridge gorge just 7 minutes away by car and the beautiful town of Shrewsbury about 15 mins away we are well blessed. Much Wenlock and the Long Mynd are also close by.

Good luck with your search.

I got your email Alouion, and I think I mentioned my brother and his wife live in Penkridge, happily settled there for over ten years now. I like it too, and the train journey north or south is easy, and plenty of shops and pubs in the centre too. I’ve also been looking at Shifnal and Albrighton, both of which I like and also have good road and rail connections (I have family in north Wales).

Sorry for repeating myself then mate. We are in Phuket, as I write, and there was no confirmation that the email had been sent so I posted on the forum.
Let me know if you settle in the region and we'll meet up.

No worries about repeating yourself.

Enjoy Phuket. I was in Khao Lak in June after a couple of days in BKK. I stayed in a very nice beach resort.
