RE: Great Away Days - Beefy 1965 - 13-10-2017

Can we class Bristol Rovers away , with the coffin and Bobby Gould as a great away day ? Big Grin
1994 V Pompey away .....
This was a great away day met Geoff Astle and Frank Skinner outside after the game
Seemed Portsmouth was just West Bromwich for a day really ...
I remember Playing football outside the ground before Kick off on a large grass verge, It was about 27 a side, did anyone of you lot play on that day ?
Ground full of baggies, Had to open another part of the ground for us. Kick off delayed as we laid into the Pompey fans just before K/O as it spilled onto the pitch, Yep this
was a great away day Thumb up
We had to win to stay up on the last day , We did and sent Blues down Thumb up
Peggy Ashcroft scored the winner Wink

Has to be the 5-3 away at Old Trafford, a Christmas present from Mum and Dad, probably the best display from a Baggies side I have ever seen.

Can't imagine ever seeing anything better in my life time from any team let alone West Brom matching that game,
The 5 Goals were all amazing Smile

Balis day was a memorable one for me, though I wasn't actually there. I went to most matches that year but I was asked to play in a golf match with my soon to be ( now ex) father in law. I'd instructed my son to text me the result and I will always remember.getting to my car, turning on the phone and reading his description of the last few minutes. Like Beefy, I was in tears......standing in a car park in deepest Lincolnshire. I still get nervous watching the video.
And the coffin was Shrewsbury....Rovers was an altogethet different story!

It probably doesn't count as an away day but the Cup Semi Final in 1968 v Birmingham at Villa Park was brilliant. I was at Uni in Liverpool in the '70s and went over to Blackpool one winter's Saturday to see us win 1-0 with a goal from Willie Johnston that won ITV's goal of the season. A happy journey back to Liverpool
