Chris Turner now second favourite. God help us all.

RE: Jack - Devongone - 20-09-2017

He was a better manager than he was a CEO. And he was better at both of those than he was goalkeeping. I ALWAYS thought he wanted to manage us, but when the job came up he didn't go for it .... But why would we employ someone we ditched? But why do we do any of the many odd things we do?

Looks as though Ricky German isn't the only forward we have who can score goals against lower opposition after last night. So both Brewster and Mitchell are still alive then!

RE: Jack - Dancingwilldoit - 20-09-2017

4 from Brewster and nobody can understand why he hasn't been in the matchday squad since his last appearance when he came on and played well. I really do hope whoever comes in recognizes own talent and actually uses it. GC really did them no favours.

RE: Jack - spireitematt - 20-09-2017

Jack is still favourite at 1/5 but Chris Turner is 2nd favourite at 7/1.

RE: Jack - Devongone - 20-09-2017

I kind of think Jack Lester might try anyone out who scored four at any level.

The thing about Jack as a candidate is he might wish for more experience before he takes the top job but when he thinks he's ready he might never again be offered a chance at a club where he is so popular before he even starts.

RE: Jack - Dancingwilldoit - 20-09-2017

After the fall out and the way he was pushed I would be really surprised if Jack came back, I still think it could be a poisoned chalice for him. Odds don't go that far without some substance. He certainly would get the fans back on side but at what cost to his reputation?

RE: Jack - spireitematt - 20-09-2017

Jack Lester is a club legend there's no two ways about it. Whoever takes the job an inexperienced or experienced manager they are going to find it tough. Everyone keeps saying they don't want Jack to take the job at the moment in case it goes wrong but will it ever be a right time? If he's offered the job he will bring optimism to the club and give the fans a lift but I'm not sure he will get the job because he's still under contract at Nottingham Forest and is doing wonders with there youth team and I can't see Forest letting him leave without them receiving any compensation. Whoever becomes the new manager the fans need to get behind him 110% and give him a chance.

Devon you said that Turner was a better manager than a CEO. I suggest you ask some Stockport fans was he a good manager for them and you will get a reply might not be clean though.

One manager who I think would make a good Chesterfield manager is John Caulfield who is currently at Cork City.

I just think now is the time for Jack and I do think he should be ready now.If he is to fulfil his promise this is the ideal place to cut his teeth .I dont think its the poisoned chalice everyone thinks .Its a well paid job and Its a good budget for the division and its early enough in the season for someone to believe they can come in and make a success of it .There are some good quality players in that squad they just need to be managed properly .
If there are over 30 quality applicants as has been reported then that proves my point .

Caulfields a good shout Matt.Impressive stats and never been sacked.I wonder if anyone at the club has noticed him ?

RE: Jack - Devongone - 21-09-2017

A left-field choice like Caulfield would do for me but I think he'd be greeted with a great deal of suspicion.

To be fair I'd rather have his mate Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye, but I'd don't think he'd be very decisive and he was a rubbish manager of the fencing team.

I love Pooch's blue-sky, decent squad, it's a great job, good budget ideas.

You'd get 30 applicants for a zero-hours contract. It doesn't make it a good job, or an easy one ...... And how many of them are applying fully aware of the state of play at the Proact? I'm pretty sure GC didn't realise what he was taking on.

20 blind people falling down a hole doesn't mean the hole's a good 'un. It means you need to call the Highways Department.
