In that team they also had Charlie Aitken and Barry Hole. As sniggering schoolkids we used to joke about Aching ArseHole. ![]() RE: Funny player names - silverbaggie - 23-09-2017 Just heard the name today as he scored for Dover Athletic:- Nortei Nortey. Is he so named because he gets a lot of bookings? Also away from football but watched the recent limited over cricket match between India and Australia the other day and one of the Indian players was called Hardik Pandya. Hope he wears a bigger box when batting. ![]() RE: Funny player names - talkSAFT - 27-09-2017 Double-barreled names were always associated with Upper-Crust. I'd cringe at Ffortesque-Ffyfe, Ingleby-Mackenzie, Rees-Mogg and all the other Toffs. But nowadays the chavs have joined in. Pathetic. Every other footballer is double-barreled these days: Ward-Prowse, Wright-Phillips, Bart-Williams, etc. But what happens when their offspring get married to another D-B? You'll be getting Loftus-Cheek-Oxade-Chamberlain wearing the number 45 shirt. But it's the fans who will have to fork out to have that name scribed on their shirts. ![]() |
