Brighton one down at Forest.

Only ten team changes. Billing retains his place. Hogg on the bench.

Genuinely feeling cheated at the moment.

Apart from a bent ref how the hell are we 0-2 down?

RE: Town v Newcastle match thread - Amelia Chaffinch - 04-03-2017

Looks like they have crocked Danny Ward and doing their best to take Izzy down.

How anyone watching that today can say Newcastle are a footballing side needs to go to Specsavers.

beeb have possession at 76-24 in towns favour. we've once again dominated but fallen short of having that killer blow. we are basically one maybe two players short. a vocal goalkeeper, someone a bit like paul robinson at burnley and a clinical striker, i just think that wells is essentially trying too hard and is ending up in the wrong positions. he had two shots today both freekicks...

when we overload the wings and get men behind their fullbacks, no one is in the box waiting. when we go down the middle we end up in cul-de-sacs and get strangled.

to me the player we missed tonight when we were chasing the game, was sean scannell and his pace. yeah his end product isnt great, but all he does he blindly cross into the box and that might have been what we needed today.

go again on tuesday

Cheated again! Angry

Always thought Ritchie was a cheat. That was the most outrageous dive ever. Says he was clipped. Bullshit! Wells was a yard off him.

As for Ward, of course he's got it under control. He's got it tucked under his body. Ok, only one hand on it, but he has control when it's kicked off him. Foul!

Third goal. Ah well. Shit happens.

The performance though, once again was excellent. Yes Newcastle were organised and hard to break down but that was because they were in a strong position not needing to chase the game having been gifted a two goal lead by the ref.

Let them go now. Target Brighton.

Quite right, Snooty. We're 6 points behind Brighton with a game in hand, so we're right in the hunt. Our problem seems to be a lack of clinical finishing.

The problem with playing Newcastle and Brighton is that you're never sure which team is going to turn up. The one that digs in and wins well or the one that inexplicably collapses against lower-ranked sides. Town, on the other hand, seem to be relatively consistent in their play - admittedly from TV coverage only.

Think it speaks volumes when you consider that our reserves produced as many, if not more clear cut chances against City, than we did against Newcastle. One is a team that adopts an open, fluid style leaving gaps at the back to exploit, knowing full well they have the quality up top to score at will. Whereas the other is more rigid and drilled to keep two banks of four, and patiently wait for an opportunity to be gifted. Either by the opposition, or by the bloke with the whistle! We do seem to struggle more against the latter type it would seem. Anyhow, with Brighton slipping up yesterday, all is not lost. But we really need maximum points from next two to keep a turning that screw!!!  Thumb up

Why wasn't Colback sent off? Pulled Wells back when he'd alrrady been booked. If that wasn't a second yellow, he stood there and argued with the ref about the decision.
Earlier, Schindler was booked for dissent after Newcastle's second goal.
Inconsistent.
