Blimey!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought Tommy committed the ultimate professional foul.
If you commit a foul inside the box, you are giving away a penalty, an almost certain goal AND reducing your team to ten men - that is less a professional foul, more like suicide.
Tommy seems to me to have saved a goal at the cost of being sent off. A professional, if not a sporting decision.
The logic of how this law and its interpretation is meant to improve the game is beyond me.
As for Jones, the ref didn't really appear to be watching his antics as he made his decision on Higdon. But Jones has at least now given us fair warning that he remains as likely to embarrass Chesterfield as he did Port Vale. On the other hand if he'd just play he seems capable of doing that pretty well ........
