Sunderland sacked Advocaat and Swansea sacked Monk.
Just seen they've appointed Rafa in place of Brolly-Wally. To me that seems just about the polar opposite to Sunderland appointing Big Sam; I'd have thought what they needed right now was discipline and organisation above all else, because their defence is shocking. We'll see whether it pays off for them. (FACT!)
Yup, but Advo the Cat went in October, and Swansea (I don't think) were in the bottom 6 when Monk was sacked....ooooh, maybe just! - but even that was December; my point was that it seems that normally more managers of struggling clubs are being sacked come Jan/Feb/March....

I think all that demonstrates Drewks is that clubs have pulled the trigger sooner than usual this season.
Didn't expect McClaren to last as long as he did though.

Looking at Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland, I know we've all had our moans about Tony Pulis, but at least it was in the context that we should be upper middle to top half of the table and not rooted in the bottom three.
Looks like Benitez's get-out clause will be triggered when Newcastle drop into the Championship, because I don't think they're going to survive.

They're currently 4/7 to be RELEGATED with bet365 (3.15 pm, March 15), Sunderland 8/15 and Norwich 4/11.

So I guess it remains to be seen whether this pays off or not but I just wanted to reiterate my view from another thread that if we were to get rid of Pulis then this is the sort of manager we should be going for. Rafa is a proven top class manager and he is going to a struggling, dying Newcastle that need complete reorganisation from top to bottom. With the exception of the stadium and fan base, tell me what Newcastle offer a manager that we don't?

An owner (Mike Ashley) who will put his own money in, and with that and the bigger fan base, higher wages which attracts players that managers want. But I guess Albion can pay high wages too if it's the right player.
