Not good enough to play against teams who press us in the same way that we want to do to them. I don't get to see many games, but this was the issue down at Brentford which I did managed to get to also. I know we want to play it out from the back, but come on, how many times did Steer roll the ball to a defender who had a Burnley player half way up his arse (Not literally I hasten to add!) but you get my drift. It's worrying when you watch a match, then listen to KOR, and then listen to Wagner, and come to the conclusion that KOR described what you have just seen better.

Just like last week (did you sneak back home btw jjamez for this one???) we huffed and puffed for 15 minutes then as soon as we let them over the halfway line they scored and we ran out of puff. We haven't been good at defending set pieces and corners for several seasons now, we still can't. Burnley were everything their stats say about them. They don't care if they don't have much of the ball, they just stick it in the onion bag when they do get it. we shoot with our heads down so far that we can't even see a defender stood right in front of us. Lolley took his goal superbly. The TV bods are waxing lyrical about Lukaku's first goal for Everton yesterday, well Lolley's was just as good if not better as it was scored from further out.

We've got a run of games coming up against teams that have all lost to Rotherham recently - so some cause for optimism.

Yond pillock, whoever he was, on Channel 5 said that teams who play like us, expansive I think the word was, get punished in this division.
I hope he's wrong cause I don't want us to change style just to please the doom mongers.
Bournemouth were being praised for the way they pass it around the back four on MOTD last night and that's what we do. And what do we get? Praise? No. "Gerrit bloody forrard!"

I think it was Tommy Smith (ex Watford) Snoots and I heard that too. Bmuff played a similar way last season and got promoted, so it can be done. However, you need very good and intelligent players to play it - that's where we fall down slightly. We have a few 1st teamers that you wouldn't change, a la Lynch, Paterson, Wells, but too many of our 1st team is made up of average Championship standard players, which will only just about secure our status in the Championship season on season.

I like the idea of playing out from the back, but there are occasions where this isn't possible, i.e. opposition pressure. The players need to be intelligent and assess this throughout the game, so they can mix it up a little. Besides, if teams are going to press us high on our goal kicks then this should allow more space in midfield and attack to exploit. A lot does come from Steer, who I think is capable of playing this style, but we do need more from him.

I hope Wagner can see our flaws with the more experienced members of the team and the younger players will need more time to adapt. We do need many players in the summer, probably a player in each position that is better than their replacement in the current team (not too much then!) The issue is whether we can get or even afford these players, regardless of whether we need and/or want them or not!

In something not related to this game Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Dougie Freedman after 13 months in charge at the City Ground.

What now for Pato? Huh

RE: Huddersfield vs Burnley - jjamez - 13-03-2016

He is a very poor manager. His saving grace from this job is that forest have been in financial turmoil and for them not to be actually involved in the bottom three is a decent result.

But god their football is dull, was like us under robins and powell.

Mmm! Still officially a Forest player even though Freedman has said we can have him.
