RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 30-10-2015 Pictures: 1. Silver is correct, the Albion man is Bobby Cram. The Leicester number 5 is Ian King. 2. Both right, it's Ronnie Allen. 3. Silver's right, it's Alec Jackson. 4. That's a full house for Aries, though you missed out that the Leicester centre-half here actually is John Sjoberg. 5. Both correct, and yes it's Shilton in goal again. 6. Obviously correct, though it was a normal league match from 1973 rather than a testimonial. The late 70s shirt had WBA in lettering on the breast rather than the rounded badge. Plus no one's pointed out the iconic number 11 with his back to the camera... 7. Definitely John Wile, though Aries has named the iconic number 11 in the wrong picture! It's a couple of years too late for Willie to be there. RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - betterthanbaird - 30-10-2015 Since pulis took over there has only been one home game when we've not conceded either 0 or 3 goals. Which game was it? RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - bomberbrown1968 - 30-10-2015 That looks like Peter Barnes in the pic with John Wile and he wasn't fit to lace Willie's boots RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 30-10-2015 (30-10-2015, 21:40)bomberbrown1968 Wrote: That looks like Peter Barnes in the pic with John Wile and he wasn't fit to lace Willie's boots Betty Barnes ![]() ![]() RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 30-10-2015 Peter Persil - the only man whose kit was as clean at full-time as it was at kick-off! That home game would have been the one against QPR when we let in 4. Which game was it? QPR who hit us for 4 I reckon betterthan, the week before Leicester last season. Those 2 home games and the 2 games against the Vile were the very low points of last season ![]() RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - betterthanbaird - 30-10-2015 (30-10-2015, 22:51)bomberbrown1968 Wrote:(30-10-2015, 21:30)betterthanbaird Wrote: Since pulis took over there has only been one home game when we've not conceded either 0 or 3 goals. Which game was it? Ah yes I fondly recall the four wake up calls last season. It's so odd that we've never had a home game under pulis when we've just conceded one, out of nearly 20 games as well. RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 31-10-2015 As I said in the match thread a few weeks back, there's no mystery about why we either keep a clean sheet or concede a hatful: our back four just isn't strong enough to contain Premier League quality for long periods unless we're sitting deep and defending as a team. If teams are good enough to pick us apart in spite of our organisation then the floodgates always open. We'll be on the way to becoming a healthier, more balanced team when we're capable of winning matches even despite conceding the odd goal here and there. For a long time now, us going behind has been a sure sign that we'll have to settle for a draw at best. (I think the last time we came from behind to win in the league was Swansea away in March 2014, and even that was the first time we'd done it for a year or so). RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Squirrel Regis - 31-10-2015 This time last year we somehow got a 1-0 win away at Leicester without having a shot on target ! Would take 3 pts again in a flash ! We then went on a disastrous run of w 1 d 1 L 7 that would see Irvine sacked. That one win against 10 man villa. Seems a long time ago now but still feel TP is the right man to keep us in the premier league. Can we have a bit more excitement though Tony ! Tough game today but C O Y B |
