We are far better than Scotland!!!  And at least we nearly always qualify as opposed to them almost never qualifying!!!  So far England, Czech republic, Iceland, N Ireland, Austria and Portugal have qualified.  It looks like Wales and Albania will join that list and then a whole bunch of different teams are still in with a shout of getting through, but at the moment it looks like some traditionally small teams are going to be there!!

I'm just being typically facetious, SCO! Big Grin

I still wouldn't say we're worlds apart though, we have great players that generally under perform IMO. Not to mention we only manage to get a stage or two further than them before we're quickly out of our depth.

They're nobodies who try, we're somebodies that choke a lot Whistle
Hopefully that's a thing of the past and times are changing with new blood.

I'd like to see some under dogs have a pop and make a name for themselves

I know you were! Thumb up

If any championship is going to throw up a surprise it's this one.  Greece, Denmark, Czechoslovakia and Russia have all surprisingly won it in the past, so you never know!!

As regards Scotland, I would say we are worlds apart currently though.  In the past they always had a few players that would make the England squad, the likes of Dalglish, Hansen and Souness were bordering on world class, but it has been a long time since they have had any players of that quality and the current squad looks to me to be as weak as they have had for a long time.

England currently have another crop of good young players with bags of potential who should be at least reach the semis but I do worry that Roy will not let them play the way they want to and that will probably stifle them once again.  I cannot understand why good managers become so gun shy when they get the England job and become too defensive.  One day we will recognize that the England team needs to play to the strengths of the players currently available instead of making the players fit the England system.  The manager does not have enough time with the players to change what they do day in, day out at their clubs, let them do what they are good at and pick the best players for each position.

HT update : 1-0 England Confused Barkley could have had three on another day Doh to help my prediction enormously Angry

And I've come up with a solution to the embarrassing empty corporate seats Thumb up Play 10 minutes each way with a 90 minute interval Cool

Sterling makes it 2-0, game over.

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD - (EQ) England v Estonia - St Charles Owl - 09-10-2015

Sterling makes it 2-0, but only after Vardy comes on to shake things up a bit. I know he is on form but I really struggle to see Vardy as the striker to take us to the title, but then who else is going to do it??

Dele Alli comes on for his debut but why bother with only 3 minutes left to play??? England had this game won the minute they scored so why not give the kid more time to get a decent run out??

Washington heading for a double win tonight if it stays at 2-0!!

Finishes 2-0, England maintain their 100% record against a team that park the proverbial bus for most of the game. Another job done but its a shame we didn't see more fringe players get a look in tonight, see how they handle the pressure.

Washington is a happy man tonight with that result!!

RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD - (EQ) England v Estonia - Maddix - 09-10-2015

We spent too much time looking for a short pass instead of taking a player on, crossing the ball or shooting Doh we'll get torn apart by faster teams Doh
