Every man and his dog in Derbyshire will want a ticket for that game if we play them.

Hmmm maybe they are trying to arrange the Galatasaray game for the Tuesday July 14th or is it just wishful thinking on my part .

Sounds like it will be unless we are playing another big team Whistle

Reason why they've brought the Matlock friendly forward is because they are going to Portugal.

 Buxton 0-4 Chesterfield

Chesterfield won there second pre-season game 24 hrs after beating Matlock 3-0 in the Autoworld Cup. The match started with Chesterfield attacking Buxton straight from the off and they put the Buxton back four and the experienced Buxton keeper Phil Barnes who has just signed from Harrogate Town under pressure. The former Blackpool shot stopper who made 141 appearances for the club in 7 years was beaten when Daniel Jones had the ball played on the wide left to him and he took a low shot from 25 yards which went under the keepers body.

Chesterfield went looking for a second and they got it 12 minutes later when Gboly Ariyibi took the ball off Buxton's Greg Young and laid on Jay O'Shea to bury it home to make it two. Buxton finished the first half by searching for a goal before half time and they had a few chances from set-pieces but the chances came to nothing as they didn't test trialist keeper Alex Cairns or the Chesterfield back four.

The second half Chesterfield came out a different squad with only Alex Cairns remaining in goal from the first. Buxton got the second half underway but it was only 2 mins before Chesterfield had the ball in the back of the Buxton net again when Jake Orrell tapped the ball in from Armand Gnanduillet's assist to make it three. Chesterfield nearly got another soon after when Orrell collected the ball on the edge of the area and turned on a sixpence only to see his shot fired wide of the post. Chesterfield kept maintaining pressure on Buxton and they went close from a corner when Mani Dieseruvwe's header was cleared off the line. Mani got his goal on the hour mark when he went on a lone run and took a hard, low shot from 20 yards to make it four. Ollie Banks collected the ball in midfield and he also went on a lone run only to see his shot sail miles wide of the goal.

Buxton didn't give in and kept searching for there goal and really troubled the Chesterfield defence on the 76th minute when a Buxton player crossed the ball into the box at the far post but unfortunately there was no one there on the end of it. With fives minutes remaining Chesterfield retained possession and built up a really good chance only for Simons overhead kick to sail over the ball.

Buxton Lineup: Phil Barnes, Michael Harcourt, Jamie Green, Alastair Taylor, Trialist, Greg Young, Trialist, Trialist, Bradley Barraclough, Liam Hardy, Trialist

Chesterfield 1st half team: Alex Cairns, Tendayi Darikwa, Dan Jones, Sam Hird, Sam Morsy, Ian Evatt, Dan Gardner, Sam Clucas, Gboly Ariyibi, Jay O'Shea, Sylan Ebanks-Blake

Chesterfield 2nd half team: Alex Cairns (Trialist), Trialist,  Michael Onovwigun, Charlie Raglan, Ritchie Humphreys, Mani Dieseruvwe, Ryan Edwards (Trialist), Ollie Banks, Byron Harrison, Jake Orrell (Trialist), Armand Gnanduillet.

Chesterfield Subs: Rai Simons, Jake Beesley, Lawrence Maguire, Myles Wright, George Milner.

There were rolling subs throughout the match.

Nice report Matt, thanks. My only "criticism" is I'd have been interested in your thoughts on the players on view. It looks like we played something like our first team to start with .... so how was Ebanks-Blake? Did he look near fitness?Second half, what were the younger players like, did you rate the triallists, especially young Orrell and Ryan Edwards? Is Mani developing? What is Rai Simons like? Is Raglan still really behind Hird and Evatt in the selection stakes? And I thought Harrison had gone to Bristol Rovers?

Were you impressed? Or was it too hard to tell against a team like Buxton?

Ebanks-Blake played alright and really tested the Buxton keeper but was brought off about the 30 minute mark and Rai Simons came on is his place. I think Ebanks-Blake could trouble some defenders when he is a bit more fitter. Ariyibi looks fantastic on the right side but we could do with a playmaker on the left.

Orrell is only 17 and apparently he has signed for the development squad after playing at Gateshead he's small, quick and I wonder if he had some coaching by Jack when he was at Gateshead because of the way he can turn quickly on the ball similar to how Jack did. George Milner looks a good young prospect and so does Beesley, Maguire and the young keeper Myles Wright. Mani looked strong and he took his goal very well. Edwards could be the type of player to link up with Morsy but not sure yet.

Rai Simons looks another good young player and I would expect him to make some appearances off the bench. Raglan looks good and I think he could be used in rotation. Harrison is still with us and he played on the right hand side of midfield and he looked good on the right hand side. A lot of the players were played out of position and they did well.

Yeah I was impressed by the players in both halves but we do need a playmaker on the left to replace Gary Roberts, I think we pass the ball around too much instead of taking a shot to test and surprise the keeper. The score line didn't do Buxton justice because they played well, they were very attacking and at times did trouble Chesterfield but just couldn't grab themselves a goal. I was very impressed by a trialist for Buxton who wore the number 7 he was skilful, quick, agile and did trouble Dan Jones at times.

I think if we have any injury problems this season then we have players who can come in and fill the void.

Ryan Edwards played a full 90 minutes for Gillingham today against Tonbridge.
