With Mason, I think it was clear a while ago that he wasn't going to turn it around. I hoped he would, but it never seemed on the cards. Like Josh, I think the owners should've acted sooner to give the new man input into any January incomings, which are desperately important.

Now we're 6 days into the window, without a manager, so clearly any incomings will be decided by the recruitment staff rather than the manager. IMO that often turns into disaster, with players brought in that the manager doesn't want. We have already seen several times over with this regime with Bany, Gilchrist, Frabotta and the list goes on...

In terms of the new boss, I don't think I'd want Corberan back. While he's a much better option than Mason, I think things were going stale at the end of his time and going back rarely works. I'd personally like to see Derek McIness, I think he's now earned his stripes as a manager, plays attacking football and would unite the club. However, i'm not sure it would be a good move for him given our current squad quality (or lack of) and the fact he could potentially win the Scottish Premier League this year. Winning the Scottish Prem would be a hell of an achievement and undoubtedly put him in the frame for a top Prem job. But money talks, so who knows.

I do suspect it will be Carrick though, as it's the easy option. Although he's got more experience than Mason, I'd still put him in the "punt" category as he's not had enough time in management to really prove himself IMO. Would just have to hope he's a more successful punt than Mason was.
