RE: The Mad Hatters Quadrilogy- Episode 1- Homecoming - Lord Snooty - 04-10-2025 Well if he does get sacked........ Steve Bruce is available. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c9317e4gk88o RE: The Mad Hatters Quadrilogy- Episode 1- Homecoming - Lord Snooty - 05-10-2025 So having now seen the highlights and read the rantings on social media, I'm sure glad we've given up going and didn't waste a thousand pounds on season tickets. First of all, I have to say, our support is f***ing shit! It was bad enough last season and was one of the factors of not re-newing. The toxic atmosphere you can now sense it over the radio waves. There was a time when we went a goal behind, we would all rally around the team and shout them back into it. The inspirational twelvth man. Remember all those Play Off semis when the fans got the team over the line? Now when we go one down, it's BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Yes, it was a crap performance and individual mistakes like pulling on a shirt right in front of the referee doesn't help. Neither does calling for the manager's head. As we've seen from Alfie May's comments at a recent press conference, the players do read this stuff and I'm sure it won't be long before they too stop trying to please these moaning pricks. You can't just keep chopping and changing managers. We go through more managers than Watford now. Remember how bad that first Carlos season was? Remember how bad the atmosphere was at the John Smith's. No, neither do I. It was played behind closed doors. ![]() ![]() Of the games I have seen on the telly, we look a lot better than that Carlos team. But that could be my memory playing up and could be because we were up against Championship opposition. Give Grant time to get them going, I say. Whatever happens, it won't be entertaining. We might get results, but it won't be the fast flowing football we enjoyed in the past. Nobody plays that way these days. RE: The Mad Hatters Quadrilogy- Episode 1- Homecoming - theo_luddite - 05-10-2025 The Match Day/Season Ticket prices have gone up and some of our fans that used to get behind the team when we went behind seem to now have a sense of entitlement that we should be bossing this League like Brum eventually did last season. That we aren't in some games, given we've almost a completely new squad and a new set of management/coaching staff to bed in together means they have the right to slag everyone off because, sitting (or standing) in their now more highly priced seats they thought they were going to see far better from day one thanks to the brass we've supposedly spent. Similar ticket prices to Halifax Town, give me a break - https://fchalifaxtown.com/tickets-and-hospitality/season-tickets/, - I still paid £20 less than my brother. Well, to some extent we are, to some extent we aren't. How good have you ever been in a new job in the first couple of months whether in a new company or after a promotion? Yes they train all week with each other but they don't train against the side we're going to play. A good coach will have them training against a 2nd 11 that play a bit like them though. We aren't going to win every game but if we get on their backs for every mis-placed pass/shot, whatever, they'll stop trying them and we'll win fook hall again. We saw how well that worked out last season. No wonder last season's side said our fans were toxic. This lot are going to say the same soon. Yes we need to get it forward faster (and I don't mean hoof-ball), we need to do more 1 touch pass fluid triangles and the like, we need to get it to our centre forwards in places where they have a chance to shoot rather than chasing balls going to the corner flag. We need to play sides that don't sit with 11 men in their penalty area and try to beat us on the break. Hmmm - we can't really control how they play can we? Only how they break with where we put players to try and control that. Stockport's 2nd goal was well taken but came from something the ref would have given a free kick for earlier in the game. The penalty came from something he saw as a tug on his shirt sleeve (a theatrical dive, the Stockport players thought it was a joke too when you look at their reaction) and like several other free kicks, where most of the players (let alone the fans) hadn't a clue why he blew his whistle and who he was even giving the free kicks to. He was as bad for both sides when it came to awarding them, it was where he was awarding them that was the problem. The two yellows for the Stockport lad a few minutes apart were about the only thing he got right and we could have seen more than one of the same for a couple of our lads with him in charge. There's a whole half row of empty seats in front of me Snoots that you wouldn't have paid £1000 for a pair like you would have done in the posh seats you used to occupy. It's not that much further to walk to the other side of the pitch regardless of where you park and I drive up north from a lot further south than Barnsley and then take public transport across or under/round The Ainleys. OK. it's free on the bus, whenever it turns up, and there won't be a direct train for the rest of the century apparently because there aren't enough platforms anymore or the new one's are now too long. Well, for now anyway. How long of a platform do you need for a two carriage diesel? As we used to say on darts and doms nights - non-players off the green, though it doesn't mean I don't respect your opinion. You've supported Town for about the same length of Town Time as me if not longer. Burton (also beat Cardiff in midweek) and Harrogate in the Tin Pot Cup this week didn't help in the scheme of things. Exeter, quickly forgotten, as we should have battered them apparently, then go and win at Lincoln after losing 4 on the bounce. That's mid-table stuff. We're 6th not 16th. Castledine should have been replaced about 15-20 mins before he was, Bojangles and Taylor should have been on a lot sooner, not saying either is a left winger but Plan B might not need one with an attacking wing-back. We're all great coaches after the match. I agree, it's not always very pretty to watch so far but hell, we've had worse starts to the season before and got promoted. Throwing the towel in a week before my birthday won't solve anything. We could always support Blackpool! ...... ![]() Nah! No bloody chance! Who wants seagulls pinching your fish and chips and shitting on your Kiss Me Kwik hats into the bargain? RE: The Mad Hatters Quadrilogy- Episode 1- Homecoming - Lord Snooty - 05-10-2025 So having agreed with the penalty decision after watching the highlights, I've just seen a freeze frame of the shirt pull. It's two yards outside the area. ![]() RE: The Mad Hatters Quadrilogy- Episode 1- Homecoming - theo_luddite - 05-10-2025 A dive that dramatic wherever there was a tug on a shirt sleeve should have been rewarded with a yellow card, not a penalty. There were periods of play where both sides were kicking each other over the stands and he waved play-on. RE: The Mad Hatters Quadrilogy- Episode 1- Homecoming - WakeyTerrier - 06-10-2025 Nobody wants to see Grant sacked but he has to lean from his mistakes and he has to learn quick because the borefest being served up right now is nowhere near good enough. As for the crowd, I think they were ok on Saturday. Well at least for the 80mins I was there. The team got away with getting booed off at half time because ref managed to take the spotlight away from them. 2nd half frustration began to build especially after the red card and rightly so because what changed…nothing. He made two subs which were basically like for like when even a blind man could see it was not working. From what I can see this ‘Northern Football’ is exactly the same stuff as we saw last season…rubbish. RE: The Mad Hatters Quadrilogy- Episode 1- Homecoming - Lord Snooty - 06-10-2025 Broomfield sacked at Luton. RE: The Mad Hatters Quadrilogy- Episode 1- Homecoming - theo_luddite - 08-10-2025 Shock, horror - team sacks head coach just before they are due to play Huddersfield Town. Wonder where they got that idea from? Then the game is called off due to Luton having 3+ international call up's .... oh, shirley they could have waited a bit longer, given they've nobody lined up to replace him? All of which tells you loads about the chaotic Management Structure at Luton since their heady days in The Prem. Didn't they learn anything from us? Russell Martin or Brucey then? New Stadium? - yeah, maybe. |
