RE: 2025/26 Scottish Cup - Lord Snooty - 08-12-2025

Quote:Following confirmation just received from the Scottish FA, our Scottish Gas Scottish Cup tie against Tranent FC will now take place at Millfield Park, home of Haddington Athletic, on Wednesday 10 December (kick-off 7.45pm).

Info from Tranent: All existing tickets remain valid for the rearranged fixture and this remains an all-ticket match – there will be no cash gate available on the night.

What about dogs? Tongue

Tranent eventually got their game against ICT under way, but lost narrowly by 1-2. ICT now play The Spartans - that takes me back to the 60s with a record by Sounds Incorporated - in the Fourth Round.

Don't be surprised if we get a post from 0762 as he has mentioned a connection with them before.

Auchinleck Talbot v Celtic - playing tomorrow at 5.30pm
Stranraer v Queen's Park - playing on Tuesday at 7.45pm
Aberdeen v Raith Rovers - playing tomorrow at 2.30pm

The obligatory Cup "shock" was provided by Dunfermline who won in added time with a fluke goal against Hibs. No sour grapes from me because The Pars were well worth their win against a strangely subdued Hibs side. Not really a shock either as Hibs always have the potential to struggle against a lower league team.

RE: 2025/26 Scottish Cup - ritchiebaby - 19-01-2026

The two Fourth Round ties played today had the expected results, but not without a bit of tension and relief at getting through. Aberdeen struggled to beat Raith Rovers 1-0 and Celtic had much the same difficulties against 6th-tier Auchinleck Talbot, only scoring the decisive goal in the last 5 minutes in a 2-0 win.

As well as Hibs losing to Dunfermline yesterday, ICT failed against Spartans and Motherwell made hard work of their win over Ross County. It's all part of the magic of the Cup for the smaller teams, I suppose.

Fifth Round Draw - ties to be played over the weekend of Saturday 7 February
Aberdeen v Motherwell
Airdrie v St Mirren
Celtic v Dundee
Dundee United v The Spartans
Dunfermline Athletic v Kelty Hearts
Elgin City v Partick Thistle
Rangers v Stranraer or Queen's Park
Stenhousemuir v Falkirk

RE: 2025/26 Scottish Cup - ritchiebaby - 21-01-2026

Stranraer beat Queens Park 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time. But they're still not through as they fielded an ineligible player in that game. They did sign him before yesterday's tie, but not before the original date on Saturday, which is the rule. The SFA will hold a disciplinary hearing on 28th January to decide the outcome.

RE: 2025/26 Scottish Cup - ritchiebaby - 29-01-2026

Stranraer have been expelled from the Cup for fielding an ineligible player, so Queens Park are through to play Rangers at Ibrox on 8th February. A feeling of deja vu here as the Spiders beat the "mighty" Gers 1-0 in last season's Cup at the same venue.
