RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - theo_luddite - 10-12-2024 What kind of a back-pass was that? Well it's now 3-0 anyway. Game over. Wemberlee will have to be another Play-off final this season. I'd rather we didn't push our luck. That one we got back was an own goal - says it all with our pish poor strikers at the moment. RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - Amelia Chaffinch - 10-12-2024 Nope, no more Wembley, not going again. RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - Lord Snooty - 11-12-2024 Well I've had the good fortune to miss that. My mum passed away last week and so we've had the meeting with the vicar tonight. On a positive note, that's the last time we'll play in this Trophy competition. Or is it? I've listened to the Duff interview on the way home and he didn't seem too bothered. It's a great stadium, you just need to know where the best places are to sit, eat and drink P.s. Town were awful last night RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - jjamez - 11-12-2024 sorry to hear about your mum snoots, my condolences RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - Devongone - 11-12-2024 Surely something like the Vertu presents clubs with opportunities, maybe of reaching Wembley, maybe of experimenting with team selection .......? You didn't have much to learn about either Hogg or Ward did you? Surely starting Ladapo with Koroma and slotting Wiles in behind them against a decent Bolton side might have showed whether that combination might have worked the oracle on a Saturday? As it was, despite almost sharing possession, you only managed half as many shots on goal as your opponents and less touches in the box. Maybe you learned something negatively, but limiting your options in your good league position hardly seems to be the way to go. It isn't the most exciting competition, but winning things and the prospect of a trip to Wembley has to be a huge bonus in any lower league team's season. I'd got the winners of your tie down in my head as potential trophy winners ....... and now my team will probably draw Evatt and Bolton away. My sympathies on your mum Snoots. Hope you've got a good Vicar. My only advice is that if you can make the funeral reflect your mum in some way then that will make everything that follows much easier. RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - theo_luddite - 11-12-2024 My condolences and best wishes to you and your's Snoots. Good luck with the funeral arrangements, I'm sure you'll make a good fist of it. RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - Lord Snooty - 11-12-2024 Thanks for all the condolences. She was 92 and died peacefully at home. RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - theo_luddite - 12-12-2024 A bit like Bob Monkhouse's Dad then? He died peacefully in his sleep. Unlike the passengers on his bus. A darned good innings that tho' Snoots. ![]() RE: Bolton away in the Vertu Trophy - Lord Snooty - 12-12-2024 Lol yes theo. We've been cracking that one all week. It's what she would've wanted. She loved a good laugh. ![]() |
