RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 31-10-2024 Obviously Snooty and I would be no use in the BBC Sports Dept, as the TV game on BBC Scotland will be East Kilbride v Falkirk to be played on Monday 2 December at 7.30pm. I suppose it's because East Kilbride is closer to Glasgow than any of the other home clubs mentioned. ![]() The Fourth Round Draw will take place afterwards with the inclusion of the SPL clubs. RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 02-12-2024 Third Round Results Friday 29 November Dumbarton 3-2 Alloa Athletic Saturday 30 November Arbroath 0-1 Queen of the South Ayr United 2-0 Greenock Morton Banks O’Dee 1-2 Hamilton Academical Clydebank 2-0 Buckie Thistle Cove Rangers 2-0 Inverness Caledonian Thistle Cowdenbeath 1-4 Brechin City (after extra-time) Edinburgh City 1-2 Dunfermline Athletic Elgin City 3-2 Kelty Hearts Forfar Athletic 3-3 Stirling Albion (Forfar win 4-2 on penalties) Fraserburgh 2-0 Annan Athletic Irvine Meadow XI 0-5 Stenhousemuir Linlithgow Rose 0-4 Raith Rovers Livingston 2-0 Brora Rangers Musselburgh Athletic 3-1 Bo’ness United Peterhead 2-3 Montrose Queen's Park 2-2 Partick Thistle (Queen's Park win 7-6 on penalties) - told you it would be a good TV game Stranraer 1-2 Broxburn Athletic (after extra-time) Sunday 1 December Dundee North End 0-1 Airdrieonians Probably the best results of these games were Fraserburgh's and Broxburn's victories against SPFL opposition. And later tonight Monday 2 December East Kilbride v Falkirk Immediately after tonight's game live on BBC Scotland, the draw for the Fourth Round will take place, featuring the much-loved ( ![]() RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 03-12-2024 Following Falkirk's 3-1 win over East Kilbride earlier tonight the draw was made for the Fourth Round. Highland League Brechin City's arty-farty grass-cutting groundskeeper (Willie?) will have the pitch in perfect condition for the visit of Hearts. He cuts a neat hedge too. The Tayside derby will be a big attraction as well - you can't get a more local derby than this as the grounds are only a few hundred yards apart. Rangers have landed one of the plum ties with the visit of Fraserburgh from the Highland League. They played Rangers in the 2017/18 Cup, also in the 4th Round. Fourth Round Ties to be played over the weekend of 18 January 2025 Brechin City v Hearts Broxburn Athletic v Ayr United Celtic v Kilmarnock Cove Rangers v Forfar Athletic Dumbarton v Airdrieonians Dundee v Dundee United Dunfermline Athletic v Stenhousemuir Elgin City v Aberdeen Falkirk v Raith Rovers Hamilton Academical v Musselburgh Athletic Hibernian v Clydebank Queen of the South v St. Mirren Queen's Park v Montrose Rangers v Fraserburgh Ross County v Livingston St. Johnstone v Motherwell RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 04-12-2024 League Two leaders Elgin City will be looking to grasp the chance of an upset when they welcome Aberdeen to Borough Briggs, just up the A96 from the Granite City. Supporters using the stand will be resting their derrieres on Newcastle United seats from St James' Park - a useless piece of information if there ever was one. Hibernian should have little problem disposing of Clydebank, a phoenix club who have had many incarnations in the Bankies history. Mind you, it is Hibs we're talking about. Runaway Championship leaders Falkirk v Raith Rovers looks a tasty tie with the Kirkcaldy team being stuffy opponents, having already beaten Falkirk in the League. RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 08-12-2024 BBC Scotland will broadcast the match between Highland League leaders Brechin City and Heart of Midlothian, with a 19:45 GMT kick-off, on Friday 17 January. On Sunday 19 January it is BBC One Scotland's turn when Rangers host Fraserburgh, with a 14:15 kick-off at Ibrox. Premier Sports will show the tie between Cup-holders Celtic and Kilmarnock on Saturday 18 January, plus the game between Falkirk and Raith Rovers the following day at noon, while the derby between Dundee and Dundee United completes their Fourth-round transmissions on Monday evening. RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 03-02-2025 Now that I'm back home from my travels, here is the full draw for the Fifth Round. BBC Scotland have second choice of the TV ties and have chosen Ayr United v Hibs on Friday and St Mirren v Hearts on Monday. Friday, 7 February Ayr United v Hibernian (19:45) I'm curling on Friday night, so will miss all the fun with Scott Brown relishing taking on his old team. Hibs are on a 10-game unbeaten run, but Championship leaders Ayr are also on form, with an 8-game unbeaten run. Saturday, 8 February Aberdeen v Dunfermline Athletic (12:30) Dundee v Airdrieonians Livingston v Cove Rangers St Johnstone v Hamilton Academical Celtic v Raith Rovers (17:30) Sunday, 9 February Rangers v Queen's Park (15:30) Monday, 10 February St Mirren v Heart of Midlothian (19:45) To be honest, St Mirren v Hearts looks to be the pick of all the ties with both teams fancying their chances. Hearts are definitely the team in form with St Mirren on a downward slide at the moment. RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 11-02-2025 Fifth Round Results Ayr United 0 v 1 Hibernian Aberdeen 3 v 0 Dunfermline Athletic Dundee 4 v 0 Airdrieonians Livingston 3 v 0 Cove Rangers St Johnstone 1 v 0 Hamilton Academical Celtic 5 v 0 Raith Rovers Rangers 0 v 1 Queen's Park St Mirren 1 v 1 Heart of Midlothian (Hearts win 4-2 on penalties) No more Rovers left in the Cup now, but that's made palatable with the Queen's Park victory at Ibrox. Good old Rangers - the gift that keeps on giving ![]() The Quarter-final Draw was made on BBC Scotland after the St Mirren v Hearts game and resulted in the following ties, due to be played over the weekend of Saturday 8 March. Livingston v St Johnstone Celtic v Hibernian Aberdeen v Queen's Park Hearts v Dundee Livingston should have a great chance of getting to the Semi-finals against St Johnstone on their plastic pitch. The other three home teams must be favourites to go through, but there just might be another shock left yet. RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 03-03-2025 The live TV broadcast details are confirmed as Friday, 7 March – Heart of Midlothian v Dundee, kick-off 19:45 (Live on Premier Sports) Saturday, 8 March – Aberdeen v Queen's Park, kick-off 12.30 (Live on BBC One Scotland & iPlayer) Sunday, 9 March – Celtic v Hibernian, kick-off 15:00 (Live on Premier Sports) Monday, 10 March – Livingston v St Johnstone, kick-off 19:45 (Live on BBC Scotland & iPlayer) The Semi-final draw will follow this game RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 11-03-2025 Quarter-final Results Hearts 3 v 1 Dundee Aberdeen 4 v 1 Queen's Park Celtic 2 v 0 Hibernian Livingston 0 v 1 St Johnstone The Semi-final Draw was made tonight by Raith Rovers' Lewis Stevenson, a double cup winner with Hibs (and not many ex-Hibees can say that) and Julie Fleeting, probably best known as a prolific scorer for Arsenal Ladies, as well as Scotland. Hearts v Aberdeen St Johnstone v Celtic These ties will be played on the weekend of Saturday 19 April. RE: 2024/25 Scottish Cup - The Rovers Return - ritchiebaby - 15-03-2025 BBC One Scotland will show Hearts v Aberdeen on Saturday 19 April at 12.30pm with Premier Sports also showing it, as well as the Celtic v St Johnstone game on Sunday 20 April at 3.00pm. |
