RE: Top Form Terriers v Happy New Year Hatters - Lord Snooty - 01-01-2023

Three games in seven days and the manager picks the same starting XI for all three. How very nineteen seventies.

Sadly, the players aren't as fit as Fothers reckons they are. Some of those who played all three were definitely flagging in the second half today and Hogg pulled up lame in the 38th minute. One goal to the good at the time, he decides to mess about with the formation by bringing on Sorba, instead of the obvious change in Camara.

Then that left Kasumu as the only tough tackler in the midfield, like we had during Hoggy's absence for the last few months. When Kasumu then went off after an hour, the midfield completely lost it's bite.

The three R's, Rhodes, Ruffels and Rudoni looked shot after half time. Wardy came on and did nowt. Why not bring Simpson on as it's clear that Wardy is off to Bolton?

Eleven changes for the return to Deepdale on Saturday?

We still need to replace Harry Toffolo. Could be fatigue again, but Ruffolo was exposed for both their goals yesterday. Having said that, Toffs was not that good at defending either was he? We need a Fred Robinson in there.

Their first goal just showed what we weren't doing yesterday, but did at Preston. Getting men in the box when we attack. Luton had four in there for that first one and a fifth player backing up, ready to knock the rebound in when it got blocked on the line.

And nice to see we got the technology issues sorted that weren't working when we "scored" against Blackpool. Sick

I'd have persisted with Rhodes, yes he probably was tiring but he was also getting fired up, I mean he did a slide tackle just before he went off! But no seriously I'd have stuck with him, I feel there's a chance of something happening when he's on, plus his all round game seems to have come on no end recently, maybe the goal was what he needed to get a bit of confidence. I'd have kept him on and not selected him at all for the cup game, you've got ward, Simpson and harratt who can fight for the striker role for that game

I’ve been told Harratt will start at PNE

What's happened to him? He was supposed to be signing as soon as January arrived. Has he had second thoughts?

I didn't think we were awful against Luton but at the same time I didn't think we were good either. I summed the whole game up as just bang average, us..them..the ref just all bang average. Nobody really deserved to win and nobody deserved to lose.

Losing Hogg did for us and for the life in me I don't know why he brought Sorba on at that point. He did the square root of nothing which by coincidence is exactly what he has done since early November.

Back to the start of the thread, of course, Squires put's the Pelé tribute into pictures far better than my words, especially the bit about Portugal kicking him over the stands.
