Cove Rangers/Ayr United v Elgin City/Drumchapel United

That could be a right interesting tussle with a massive tie potentially at the end for the winner!!

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - Lord Snooty - 23-01-2023

Jim Goodwin getting sacked in the morning?

Aberdeen one-nil down at half time to Darvel.

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - themaclad - 23-01-2023

2 minutes of added time left and as Bill McClaren would say they could be dancing in the streets of Darvel tonight

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - Lord Snooty - 23-01-2023

Absolute scenes.

Well deserved win. Keeper played well, made some great saves but it wasn't backs to the wall stuff. Aberdeen were poor, even though they had a perfectly good goal chalked off for offside, they got what they deserved. Nothing.

Potentially the biggest Scottish Cup upset ever, but poor refereeing (the scourge of Scottish footie!) playing a huge part in making the result again. As you say: a perfectly good goal ludicrously disallowed and the offside call wasn't even marginal - at least 2 metres onside!!? A manager's job "on the line too" although the Dons really should've been cantering in this type of cup tie. Darvel the better team, but enforcement of the rule of offside in contention here again. Hibs are the Dons next opponents - becomes a massive match for both clubs!

Cracking match. Darvel won it. Should have had more. Well played.

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - hibeejim21 - 24-01-2023

Fantastic performance from Darvel, they didn't look like a team several tiers below Aberdeen thats for sure. But aye, that offside decision was absolutely horrific. As 0762 says it wasn't even marginal !!!

I think those aberdeen players wanted goodwin out anyway. They will probably get their wish now Laugh

Falkirk next for Darvel....You have to say they have a chance.

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - 0762 - 24-01-2023

Aye! They never played this match like a proper cup-tie with full commitment. I could only imagine going back years to my playing days and taking part in this type of passive display - I would've seriously been screaming at team mates to "get a grip" and move/pass quicker and with a purpose - nothing like that "never-say-die" attitude evident tonight and any lead players in absentia. During this match, Goodwin himself looking like a manager resigned to his own fate.

Darvel's dressing rooms would put many a club to shame
