RE: Maloney sacked - hibeejim21 - 19-04-2022

Yeah, but we all knew he was inexperienced, we were going with his background and education in the game when we appointed him. If you are going down that route then you have to accept the risk that you are going to have a bad start. There was no risk of us going down IMO and he hadnt had any chance to bring in his own players.

I suspect behind the scenes there is a lot of discord, i can't see certain players in that squad being happy with playing the way maloney asked. And until we fix that we are never going to progress as a club.

Was totally pointless hiring him.

RE: Maloney sacked - 0762 - 19-04-2022

Yep - totally pointless hiring him and the "finger of blame" is firmly pointed in the direction of Ben Kensell. Being an ex-interviewer of people in the Public Service, I would've loved to have attended that interview to discover the full content of this meeting that led to such a huge management gaffe. As said previously, the CEO would also be "oot the door" pronto - it should never have happened and it's a shame for Maloney himself that he was placed in this position even though he knew the risk involved.

Although my comment on you applying for the managers job was light hearted I hope you were not offended by it.
Most of us have ideas as to what is wrong it does not appear to have registered with those at the top of the tree.
We need to have a clear out of all the dead wood and develop a completely new approach. People like you and some of the rest of us who have supported the club for years could give valuable input on pointing the way forward for the club we all love.
If only a ridiculously wealthy Arab was looking for a lost cause as a play thing to throw his money at we could see a return of the great days and nights of the 5O'bs and 60's. Happy times.

Please keep personal trolling and slurs off the Hibs board on Sports Babble.

Light hearted comments like Watties are fine but trolling individuals as happened last night will not be allowed on here. Keep it for other boards please.

Be sure I wasn't offended by your comment at all 1Wattie. It was light-hearted stuff and taken exactly in that way.
I'm just curious to see if Ben Kensell's reply to my letter will be a "fob off" or a serious response to issues/problems that need to be redressed as quickly as poss. All I've seen from HFC is the club statement re Maloney's departure, no formal apology yet!! Also replace that wealthy Arab with a fanatical Hibee who amazingly wins a record Euromillions jackpot eh! Rolleyes One can only live and dream of such a mega lucky moment and massive change of fortune for our footie club in a footie league where most of the clubs are basically trying to survive or at least attaining a level of performance that is reasonable by Scot footie standards, but nothing near a great level of competition. And sustainability is highly unlikely due to the limited "money factor". One can see how footie clubs in Scotland can suddenly be relegated or embroiled in a serious relegation fight under such circumstances esp when player resources become depleted for various reasons during a footie season.

"Replace that wealthy Arab with a fanatical Hibee" Do that 0762 and we would all be living the dream. We can but hope.

Turns out there was a bust up in training just as i thought. There is a lot of unhappy players.

Malky Mckay seems to be getting mentioned a lot..... He's done a great job at County but he well and truly blotted his copy book with that racist stuff.

RE: Maloney sacked - ritchiebaby - 21-04-2022

Strange then that the performance against Hearts was one of their best in terms of attitude and commitment. I hope it's not another display of "player power" coming to the fore.

RE: Maloney sacked - 0762 - 21-04-2022

Not the best performance for a good part of the first 45 mins when Hibs were cautious, casual, needlessly error-prone and almost gave themselves a "mountain to climb"!! That was a significant part of the game I observed with other Hibs fans in the North Stand!! And remember Maloney said in his pre-match comment Hibs were now well prepared and ready to go from the off. Not so!! Their vg performance after their first goal was indeed a huge surprise and nothing short of heroic, particularly after losing Newell and outplaying Hertz with ten men. However, the Newell dismissal, a player on an early yellow card for well over an hour, should've been managed better by Maloney and should never have happened - that was a huge lack of management nous, a fatal oversight not to take him off for his own good and a wise move for the benefit of the team!! I debated this issue with other Hibs fans about 15 mins before the red card was issued as "I've read this book" before v them and so have you Ritchie!!!!

I'm guessing the bust-up was relative to the system of playing that Maloney insisted on deploying with a lotta players not being comfortable with it esp during a period leading in to such important, season-defining matches - a case of no experiments please!! Also the racist stuff attached to Mackay happened years ago in 2013. It was admittedly unacceptable, but a huge element of regret and contrition followed on from that scandal as well as isolation from the game. On the footie side of things I can remember many Cardiff City fans saying at the time that they rated Mackay highly enough to be the greatest manager in their history - high praise indeed and something to take note of.
