RE: 2022 Summer Transfer Window - Blue Baggie - 21-04-2022

In my mind if Lai doesn't invest in the summer we are destined for a lower table position followed by a rat's leaving a sinking ship.
Then obscurity - then Lai may get it. The club belongs to the fans he's just the custodian.

Blue, I'm sure I read a year or so ago - (can someone confirm?) - that the Chinese Government had barred their citizens from investing any more money in overseas Sports Clubs (???)
If that's so, Lai has got to make his mind up whether to sell up soon before our value depreciates any further!
I just wish that Jeremy Peace would buy the Club back (if he still sees himself as a fan). What's he going to spend his £200m on in his lifetime? What about buying WBA back for £80m (or whatever)? Lai would be even dafter than I thought if he didn't cut his losses now.

Molumby deal is done according to Bruce.

Presumably the deal was done last year and it was a loan in name only. This seems the only logic considering he's shown very little to justify making his loan permanent if we had any choice in the matter.

I mean he's not even been able to force his way into this extremely average side.

Don't even want to think how much we've had to fork out...

I've not been impressed with him at all. He's another one of these midfielders who might do okay on stats (running, keeping the ball with predominantly safe passes) but does very little in the real game. He can't create, isn't a tackler or enforcer, never looks like he's going to score. The only positive I can say is that he's neat and might do okay if we changed our philosophy to something more possession based. I think he would have to play in a 3 though, alongside a proper defensive midfielder and someone more attack minded. With Bruce headstong on this shoddy back 3, his position doesn't exist.

I'm not sure whose idea it is to keep signing people up long term when the chance is there to have a look at them first. We did the same with Bruce himself.

Just another in a long line of illogical decisions from the powers that be. Hope we've not go the same deal in place for Clarke who IMO is equally average.

Button signs 2-year deal (OS). Fair enough, I guess.

And now Palmer as well. Keepers sorted.

The Express and Star report that Reyes Cleary has decided to leave West Bromwich Albion, rejecting a professional contract with the club.

When we were sold for the reported £200 million we had £40 million in cash in the bank at the time this was included in the sale.
Hence Lai paid £160 million in reality.
We soon after blew the £40 million on Burke - Sturridge - Gibbs - Barry - Hegazy - Krychowiak - J Rod and the dismisal of Pardew in a failed attempt to prevent relegation. But we spent all the cash as far as I know.

So any offer around £160 million should see him get his money back.
Once the £50 million parachute money disappears our value will drop like a stone.
So he would need to sell now if he's looking to get a chunk of his original investment.

Look like Sawyers doesn't want a contract extension and is looking for a new club.
£2k a week and a packet of Wrigley's should secure his services. I look back at his time with us and recall he preferred to walk rather then run, chewed gum and scored a wonderful own goal.

Yeah - I'm no fan either. I always thought there's a decent footballer in there somewhere, but he's very much in 1st gear all the time, too casual, doesn't like doing any work, as far as I can see.
Shame really.

I'd be happy if he stayed and played a season under Bruce. As you say, i think there is a decent footballer in there and i don't think we have always played to his strengths, either in the right role or with the right balance in midfield. He is clearly rated by his fellow players but also, and importantly, by Bruce; if he stayed, I'd be expecting Bruce to get the best out of him. If that doesn't work out, then fair enough but I'm struggling to see how Mulumby is better than him, and we've just signed him.

RE: 2022 (May 10): Summer Transfer Window - Baggiebob(BBB) - 13-05-2022

Doh Fact is I've stopped speculating what the club will do next re players/managers/owners, as for the past 6/7 years everything has appeared to be a mess. And now its the worst its ever been. So I have given up worrying and just support the team whether good or bad cos their ain't anything I can personally do about it. Sick
