RE: New manager then ? - Stairs - 02-02-2022 Steve Bruce looks pretty much signed and sealed. But this is West Brom so many a twist is possible. But then again, we've had Pulis and Pardew, might as well go for the complete set of crap RE: New manager then ? - Slick_Footwork - 02-02-2022 (02-02-2022, 17:53)BaggieSteve Wrote: Please not Steve Bruce, just please no! Mowbray is out of contract in the summer so I'd prefer us to be managed by Mozza and Brunty for the remainder of the season and see if Mowbray would be interested, particularly if Blackburn are not promoted. I've heard Benitez's name - definitely not, if we think VI's football was turgid, listen to fans of Everton and even those of Newcastle who were not pulled into the 'Love Rafa/Hate Ashley' palaver. His football is not in the least attractive. I've also heard McInnes' name mentioned - fortunately, he's just been appointed to Kilmarnock because his football was as bad as VI's in his last 2/3 seasons at Pittodrie. I mentioned Benitez (not sure if he's been linked elsewhere). I agree with you that I wouldn't want him as a full time appointment, as I'd rather we adopted a more attractive style of play. But I do think if the board had real ambitions about us going up this season, they would go for him. His trophy haul as a manager is pretty much unrivalled and we're in a rare position where the fact he's out of fashion means we might have a genuine chance of getting him. I mean how often is it that you could even consider a manager who has won everything from from La Liga to the Champions League and just about everything else in between, including the Championship title? If our board went for him on a short term deal until the end of the season, I'd credit them with at least having a genuine ambition to get us promoted. I think any decent coach who wants to implement a better style such as Knutson (my choice) or Mowbray would probably need a summer and acquisitions anyway, so we might have more chance of a favourable finish this season going for someone who can organise us. Obviously while improving the style of play to an extent. I don't for a minute think the board would be ambitious enough to go for him anyway. Really hope this is BS, he couldn't even lead Villa to promotion with Grealish and an unlimited pot of cash. At least he would revert to 4 at the back though. My primary concern is the hasty appointment that we later regret - a bit like giving VI a four years contract. Whilst we would be a standing joke if we appointed Bruce, I could just about live with it until the end of the season, on the basis we won’t get promoted. If we managed to go up under Bruce, I guarantee you they would offer him a contract and that would be a right f*ck up. Of course, if we think promotion is mostly unlikely- I appreciate no one will admit that- then give it to Mozza and Brunty for the rest of the season and don’t bother with an external. Let’s face it, we’re not going to get relegated. RE: New manager then ? - drewks - 02-02-2022 I'm sorry to say that I'm pleased VI has gone, but dismayed to hear ANY link with Bruce. Hoping against hope that this is just idle press sh*te RE: New manager then ? - Amelia Chaffinch - 02-02-2022 Whatever the question is, Steve Bruce is not the answer. RE: New manager then ? - BaggieSteve - 02-02-2022 I see the name of one John Terry is being mentioned. I’m sure this is complete and utter tosh but if there is even a modicum of truth in it, well in the words of the Kaiser Chiefs, I predict a riot. If that is the case, Steve Bruce suddenly takes on the appearance of Pep Guardiola RE: New manager then ? - drewks - 02-02-2022 https://www.westbromnews.co.uk/2022/02/02/ron-gourlay-in-talks-with-steve-bruce-on-wednesday-to-hire-him-as-new-west-brom-manager/ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: New manager then ? - Baggie_One - 02-02-2022 I remember chanting with the smethwick Sit down potato head RE: New manager then ? - Arcane Astral Aeons - 02-02-2022 some fans have spent months trying to gel val out: you got your wish now what happens? every manager now being linked aint good enough get a grip i`m sad to see val go(although it was inevitable) but already saying this manager/that manager aint what we need seriously are you lot for real? |
