Agree with both of them 0762, especially the Boyle one........what an idiot.
Penalty decisions are as the ref sees them......or doesn't! and as I said they had a great shout by where we sit in the second half. However they did go upfield after the Magennis one and score which obviously they wouldn't have done if it had been given.
Having said that we would have probably come out in the second half with our usual plan, when ahead, at bringing them on (to control the game!!) to catch them on the counter..............well that worked really well in the last 25 minutes, not!!! Whenever we try this, we never look comfortable and yesterday we paid the price. In theory it should be a good tactic but instead of bringing the ball out from an opposition attack and countering with pace we end up booting the ball anywhere and therefore invite even more pressure. In the end yesterday they got their deserved equaliser.
On one of our "counters" yesterday, I think Magennis brought the ball out and for over half the length of the pitch he only had one player trying to get to him......I watched Boyle as this was happening and he jogged to just short of the halfway line and stopped! Obviously under instruction that to defend was more important. The counter broke down and back came St Mirren.
We had a few of these games last year where we were hanging on to the points especially at home, and the luck was with us and we did survive......not yesterday.

One can only ask, "Is it the manager's instructions or is this the mindset of certain players to 'hold what we have' when ahead on goals"? I just wanna add that I was really "cheesed off" at the passive reaction of Magennis in that pen incident. He showed no reaction to claim that pk, did nothing, but Paul Hanlon, a Hibee, noticeably giving Clancy an "earful" re that denied pk!! Is this another player just happy to play a game of footie, but no passion to win a game at all, IMO highly questionable from a Hibs fan's perspective.
Also this Hibs f### up in losing 2 pts exposed this afternoon as Celtic lose to Livy and Rangers held to a draw at Ibronx!

2 observations.
Firstly we keep on losing the same kind of goals....over and over again. Everyone in the ground knew that 2nd goal was coming apart from JR it would seem. Its becoming really annoying, but we cant really complain, bar 15 minutes after the interval we didn't really play with any fluency at all.
Secondly whilst Nisbet is a really good wee player his hold up play is not really helping us at the moment. We seem to really lack a proper 'out' at times to get us up the park. Nisbets close control remains the weakest part of his game.
We have missed a big chance with the results this weekend, Sevco are a team on the wane and Celtic and Aberdeen are teams in transition this season. It was a great opportunity to do well with the games we had there - next up we have a much harder run of games including all of the above.
Thankfully was able to have a few beers and a bit to eat afterwards which took the edge of that result, its been too long!!

I note your comments Jim re Nisbet and , I stand corrected but do you think you are missing the influence of Doidge up front? Not in the know tbh but does he offer that type of hold up play you refer to?. As a side note,pretty decent weekend for both Edinburgh teams considering the uglies did not get what they wanted and indeed expected, results wise

We do miss Doidge IJ. Nisbet is not the same type of forward and doesn't hold the ball up and lay off particularly well. He is more about taking half chances in the box. Doidge, although not the quickest, provides a good target and is strong so can retain possession better.
As you say, not too bad a weekend but could have been so much better for the Edinburgh clubs if they hadn't both drawn. Only seen the goals from the Ross County game so don't know if JTs are disappointed with only one point?

Nisbet absolutely misses Doidge as a target man, could be a struggle in coming weeks and months if we can't sort out up top. Think it was a missed opportunity for both Edinburgh clubs, if either of us are to realistically challenge we need to take more advantage of such opportunities.

Yup ! Even though i'm no huge fan of doidge.
Which makes our decision not to bring in another forward this window all the more perplexing.
