Bookies laughing all the way to the bank. Methinks more than a few of us might be looking at the EFL Cup for a few points this week. RE: HTAFC Prediction League 2021/22 Matchday 8 - Lord Snooty - 19-09-2021 We've had a meeting of the committee this afternoon and decided that it was a bit harsh putting Forest's second goal as an own goal as it looked like it was going in anyway. So as a result we will be awarding one point to anyone who has Joe Lolley down to score. RE: HTAFC Prediction League 2021/22 Matchday 8 - theo_luddite - 19-09-2021 Damn - first season in ages I didn't have him down to score against us and I've watched it too and it wasn't, but just my opinion. I think it came off the Town defender sliding back as the first move towards goal rather than Nichols - Lolley just poked it across the 6yd box, if left alone it wouldn't have bothered the corner flag let alone the onion bag. Can you include Tom Lees's header going wide as a goal too on the same basis? Not that I had him down to score, just asking or a friend. ![]() ![]() If this ball from Lolley is going in I'm a Dutchman - this is the point from the YouTube highlights it hits the first Town defender and is deflected towards goal - I'm not sure Nichols even touched it. One of the two defenders at the back post certainly did but it was already going in. This is as close as I can get to Lolley crossing it, trying to find his team mate on the 6yd line. ![]() As I said - not going anywhere close to the goal for it to be a Lolley goal. RE: HTAFC Prediction League 2021/22 Matchday 8 - Lord Snooty - 19-09-2021 Yeah I watched it a few times. I was convinced it was going in. Only watched it on my phone though. RE: HTAFC Prediction League 2021/22 Matchday 8 - theo_luddite - 19-09-2021 managed a bit more stop action - Lolley about to cross ![]() about to be chested in by the Town defender ![]() RE: HTAFC Prediction League 2021/22 Matchday 8 - Lord Snooty - 19-09-2021 Right. Personal opinion here. You don't have to agree. You probably won't but........ If a player takes a shot on goal and it goes in via a deflection, in my opinion, whether it's going in or going wide, it's that player's goal, not an own goal. It's wrong to give an own goal to a defender who's just doing his job of trying to block the shot. And it's only since Sky came on the scene that these things were changed. The Pearson own goal last week was different. It wasn't a shot, it was a cross and he got his feet mixed up and deflected the cross into his own net. This has annoyed me since the day Steve Mounie was denied a perfectly good goal at home to Bournemouth when his shot brushed the little toe of a defender. |
