He will play a mix & match team which will ensure we get thumped & destroy the confidence of half the team or as SG calls it "a team to be competitive."

It is no coincidence that the first team players that played against Man City last time all suffered a ten match hangover & now that they have just recovered (4 wins out of 6), he will probably do the same thing again.

Don't they say that insanity is doing the same thing & expecting a different outcome.

RE: FA Cup 3rd Rnd Match Thread v Man City - St Charles Owl - 31-12-2014

Our threads are all mixed up, lets keep to the City game on here, I will move the other comments to the Second half thread.

To be fair, what else can he do with regards to the team for this game?? He can't put a team of youngsters out, that would be viewed as stupid and disrespectful to the cup and to the 5,000 Owls fans who are going to the game!!! He should play the first team, bar anyt player who are carrying knocks and just tell them to go out and enjoy the occasion, no expectation of a result and no recriminations whatever happens. All three subs to be used by the 60th minute as well to give a run out. But we can't just forfeit the game, we should have more pride than that!!

I moved some posts and inadvertantly moved Werehams prediction so here it is:

So what you are saying broadly is that respect for the cup is more important than 15 league points?

No wins out of ten after Man City match. Now four wins out of six after the shell shock has worn off.

Don't make the same mistake again & I don't mind watching a junior team playing.

RE: FA Cup 3rd Rnd Match Thread v Man City - St Charles Owl - 31-12-2014

There is no reason why our first team should have their confidence shot by losing to Man City!! They will not be expecting to win anyway and they should be told to go out and give it their best!! If any of them are crushed a second time around then they need to get their heads out of the clouds and realize they are playing at the level they are good enough for!!

RE: FA Cup 3rd Rnd Match Thread v Man City - St Charles Owl - 31-12-2014

Besides, what message does it give to our first team if SG drops them because he fears they will collapse as a team by being beaten again by Man City?? That in itself would be a complete vote of no confidence in the first team and an admission that they are not good enough anyway!! Give them the chance to redeem themselves a bit and lets make sure that we do not get a man sent off this time!!!

I have no expectation that we will win or even get near a draw!! But realistically we will lose by 3-4 goals, but our players should be professional enough about it to use it as a learning curve!! Did losing 4-0 at Fulham destroy their confidence, surely that was an even worse result than 7-0 at one of the best teams in the world????

The lucky elbows will be back as that single handedly won the Wigan game for us, any extra luck needed and big keV will make a come back as well

Lampard can't actually play in this game Doh his loan runs out on the 31st of December and can't be renewed until the 5th of January Thumb up unless the boys with the money somehow cheat the system Whistle
